Seemed to go well, then Bob used a few panels of wood to experiment on what he thought should work for fence. I expected with his experience he would have drawn it out with accurate measurements. Instead wasted wood and wasted time. I paid him all along the project so he would have money even though job was not completed. He left job site to return unused wood to store for a refund, saying he wouldn't charge me for the time to re-do fence. He said I didn't owe him much and would get back lots of money from unused wood. I had also handed him $100.00 bill. This was on Friday. He said he would return Sunday with my refund of over $300.00 for returned supplies. He didn't come by on Sunday, even though I called many times. He did not return my phone calls or request for the cash refund he received. I had a friend call from another phone number he wouldn't recognize. He told them he was out of town and would call me. He never did call me. He finally sent a letter to me listing additional charges supposedly spent on project, deducting time billed from cash given him and refund from supplies. He figured my refund, (after deducting his trumped up charges) was $51.50. No apoligy for destroying over $200.00 worth of wood while trying to figure out how to better build the fence. This loss was not listed or mentioned by him. He also charged me for the time spent to re-do all his mistakes. I sent him a letter to explain my shock at his charges, the lack of refund, lack of communication. I still have not heard from him or received the (incorrect) refund of $51.50.
Description of Work: Mr. Kirkland was retained for building of fence. We discussed job to be done. He has been a carpenter for years. I expected better quality of work due to his years of experience. He has performed well on tasks for me previously.
