Aftermath Southern California

I manage an apartment building. A tenant passed away and was not discovered for several weeks. Prior to his death, the tenant had destroyed the apartment with trash, rotting food sitting in pots and dishes for weeks or longer and debris everywhere! After the police cleared the scene they took me into the apartment to explain the need for a biohazard cleanup. A regular cleaning crew would not be sufficient due to the risk of air born pathogens from the deceased. I overheard the detectives speaking about a company called Aftermath. I did a computer search and found the company. I was impressed with the scope of work they provided. I called the company the next day after the police released the apartment to me. They work 24/7/365 days a year! They asked when I wanted them to come and evaluate the apartment. They would come immediately if I wanted. I asked for them to come at 10:00am the next morning. I went outside about 9:50am and saw the van sitting in front of the building. They didn't want to disturb me before 10:00am! I invited them into the building and filled out some paperwork about what had happened in the apartment. Meanwhile, Alan and Ricky, my wonderful crew, suited up in their biohazard suits. They went inside, took pictures, measurements and other information and returned in about half an hour. They explained what they found and then they went to their van to contact their office for an estimate. Meanwhile, Sheryl in the office called me to discuss insurance. She gave me all of the info that the insurance company would need to determine coverage. Then the guys got right to work. Because of the odor and pathogens they needed to properly dispose of all porous items. They removed everything in biohazard bags or boxes, including a futon that they cut to fit into the boxes. They also needed to remove all of the carpeting and padding. (Even the tack strips that held the carpet had to go!) Any furniture or other items that were salvageable were thoroughly disinfected and bagged. After all items were removed the apartment was thoroughly cleaned with a 3 step bio wash. Alan and Ricky were GREAT! They kept me informed throughout the process and worked incredibly hard! They consulted me when there was a decision about keeping or removing any items. They looked for and located specific items that the next of kin wanted and put them in a safe, clean zone. After the work was completed I was taken into the apartment for an inspection. I was amazed at the work that Alan and Ricky had done! They showed me all of the saved items and gave me an inventory of what was disposed of. The total price was actually less than the estimate!! Sheryl in the office called me on a three way call to introduce me to Travis who would be handling our account with the insurance company. She told me to feel free to call her cell any time 24/7 if I had any questions. During this entire process I felt supported. I was dealing with the loss of a tenant whom I did not know very well. However, I was shown so much care and concern from every member of this company. Most people in need of this service will be dealing with the loss of a loved one. This company will help the healing begin! Words simply cannot express how grateful I am to Alan, Ricky, Sheryl and Travis for making this difficult experience a little easier! Thanks Aftermath!!
