SKYLINE ROOFING

I waited to write this review until El Niño finally made his appearance because I wanted to see how the work held up and I can now report with gratitude and full confidence that Skyline did a terrific job.  We had some major construction work done when we bought our house four years ago and because of the drought we had no idea how the new sections of roof would do in rains.  But this summer there were a few unusual thunderstorms in our area and we discovered a leak in our remodeled kitchen.  I crawled around in the attic trying to find where it was coming in but couldn't.  I went to Angie's list and called a couple of places.  Skyline responded first and the guys showed up exactly when they said they would.  They carefully inspected the roof (we have somewhat fragile tiles) and pointed out a couple areas as likely suspects.  They gave me a very reasonable estimate for the work, we agreed on it and they again arrived on time, did the work and even threw in some repair on broken tiles they noticed during the repairs. They couldn't have been nicer guys and they were fast, clean and professional.  Their detective work was accurate and as mentioned above, we got through some torrential downpours this week with not a drop getting through.  Outstanding job and we recommend them wholeheartedly.

Scheduled twice and due to business meetings I had to try to reschedule a third time and they said they would pass.

Guess they are just too busy or too small.

They showed up on time, with all the materials, explained again what they would be doing and started immediately.  They finished in under two hours and thoroughly cleaned the work site.  I would recommend them highly.

We've used them two times for myself and a relative. They are fantastic. They are very prompt and very courteous. They are easy to schedule. They say what they do and they do what they say. I called an appointment. I asked them to another relative of mine. They also love them. They are wonderful. Overall, they are an A+. Their price is mid-range. They are not the cheapest but they are not the most expensive. I like them that much based on service. The quality is excellent. I would absolutely use them in the future.

The asphalt shingle roof was removed, and a new asphalt shingle roof was installed.  Yes, I would use them again.   They were fast, clean, and professional at all times.  Price was comparable and competitive with other estimates, and we got value for the money spent.  They were local.  The owner lives within two miles of me, and I like to shop local when possible.  First heavy storm of the season, and we have zero problems.   Now for details.  The representative from Skyline (Jeff) is not just an estimator, or salesman.  He is the owner of the company and is half the crew that actually installs the roof.   After he examined the old roof I was told it was good for another two or three years.   The roof was 30 years old, I was prepared to do it now, and did not want to wait for an emergency.  We did the full roof estimate, made an appointment to start and Jeff pulled the permits.    Skyline suggested we use an architectural style in place of the old 3 tab shingles and I am glad we did.   It added a lot to the look of the house.   Some wood damage could be seen at the edges of the roof, and a bit more was anticipated.  This was built into the original estimate and dealt with when encountered, at no extra cost.  When the old roof was removed we discovered that the last installers had been sloppy with the sheathing.   Skyline corrected  problems as needed, with No extra cost.   I had some special requests that were accommodated without problem.   I am particular about the work that gets done on the house, and I am always interested in the how and why of the details.   All my phone calls were returned the same day, usually in the evening, with answers for all my questions.  Yes, I would recommend Skyline Roofing, and I would use them again.

Skyway's work deserves an A.  Everything was exemplary and today I would rehire them.  Service, price, promptness, clean-up.......except a year land a month later I had the same leak, plus a few more in the same area.   Of course I called 3 different roofers this time for estimates.  After inspecting the roof, they said Skyway's work was excellent.  The problem was a misdiagnoses of the cause of the leak.  It was the flashing around my skylight rather than the actual roof and now I am having to pay an additional charge to have the actual leak area repaired.

We originally called for an estimate last year but had not done the work. The rains were coming so we called to schedule. They called back and explained they would have to redo the estimate in case anything had changed. They came a few days later and said it would be the same and scheduled the appointment. I thought the leak may be caused by the tv cable installation and he said he would provide photos when th e installation was done. They came out on the scheduled day (arriving early) completed the repairs, cleaned up and left. They did not leave the photos though. The price was pretty competitive. I had several higher and one a little lower.

We noticed water stain on our second floor ceiling and suspected a leaky roof. We called Skyline to set up an appointment for roof inspection. Jeff called back promptly and setting up an appointment was painless. He arrived at the house on time and proceeded to inspect the roof. As it turned out, the leak had to do with the debris that had accumulated and blocked the water flow when it rained. He recommended some minor trimming of the tiles to improve the water flow, and we set up the appointment for the day after. He again arrived on time and completed the work in about 45 minutes. The whole process was smooth with no fuss. We will definitely consider using Skyline's service again for future roofing needs.

I had 5 estimates from people I found on Angie's List and these guys were the best overall in terms of information, keeping me informed and how quickly they accomplished the job.  Jeff Wallick called me to let me know exactly when they would be at my home and they showed up when they said they would.  The guys they sent to tear down my old roof were also great - they cleaned up everything and made sure nothing in my garage was damaged.  They covered everythiing with a thick plastic covering.  I really love  these guys - Terry Mason as well.  I should have posted this review sooner but I've just been busy.  They deserve to be recognized for the superior company that they are and for the work they do.

These guys know what they are doing, and they want to get it right. Their work
was careful, with attention to detail at the seams and edges. What impresses us
was that they did so many additional things that were unplanned, but good to do.
There were a couple of problems with the roof caused by the addition that were
around for over 20 years. They discovered these problems during the course of
the work, and fixed them without fuss, bother, or extra charge. They took down
part of the parapet between the two roofs, which makes more sense than having a
scupper between them, as was the case before. They also rebuilt some of the wood
on the roof near the main drain, which gave an occasional problem during heavy
rains. We didn't even mention this last one -- they discovered it themselves and
just went ahead and fixed it.

Great, these guys are top notch and they ripped off a 1946 original roof down to the studs that was termite damaged. Put on all new sob sheathing and even replaced facia boards that were outside of their allowance for no charge. The roof looks pro as the ridge lines are nice and all the stacks are painted to match. They also came in lowest out of 4 bids. Way to go Jeff and Terry!

We needed a small repair to our roof.  Skyline gave us a timely estimate and explained our options.  We decided to go with them for the repair which was performed quickly and competently. We would definitely recommend them and would use them in the future.

Jeff & Terry came by in ?October? to look over my house in Altadena and give me an estimate. They produced the estimate "on the spot" - no delay. A different company doing repairs on my garage had to finish its work before the roofing could commence. As it turned out, the repairs did not include re-roofing the garage, so I had Jeff come out to revise his estimate to include the garage.
Skyline was extremely accommodating with regard to scheduling. They knew I was in a bind because I had to leave town and could not postpone the work as both the house and garage roofs were leaking. Accordingly, we scheduled the job to commence the day after Christmas, a time when many people take off for holidays. Because it rained on the 26th, commencement of the tear off had to be delayed one day. 
There were complications along the way.  The crew who were doing the tear-off could not get their truck right up against the house because the truck was too big to make the turn without demolishing my shrubbery. So it took the tear-off crew longer to transport the rubbish to their truck.  The driver of the supply company who delivered my new shingles did in fact break a major branch on one of my shrubs due to carelessness (not Skyline's fault). Jeff took the time to cleanly prune the limb so it looked nice and the shrub wouldn't become diseased. 
 Terry and Jeff put forth extra effort to make me happy. They even worked on Sunday! Jeff brought his (adult) son along to help move the project forward faster. They put roofing material on four returns attached to the roof of the house (because I insisted that they were part of the roof and another contractor recommended that they be protected with roofing material). Skyline did not anticipate 
having to roof the returns when they made their bid - and they did not charge me anything extra.
Jeff and Terry were, at all times, friendly, professional, competent, punctual and efficient. The entire process from tear down to completion only took a few days. My new roof looks great - I love it! I highly recommend this company.

Both Jeff and Terry from Skyline were very professional and responsive.  Jeff was able to go out to my property the same day to look at a skylight and provide me with an estimate to replace it.  Their price was better than all the other estimates I received and they were able to fit me into their schedule soon after.  There was a problem with getting the exact skylight replacement so they drove several miles out to get it from another store.  They definitely went the extra mile and I appreciated it.  I highly recommend them based on their price, professionalism and craftsmanship.

Skyline Roofing was contacted over the weekend due to a leaky roof from a recent heavy rain.  They responded with an email scheduling an appointment for the next business day.  They arrived promptly and provided verbal estimates and promised to email a hard copy with estimates later today.   While no work was performed,  I appreciate their quick response and professionalism so far.

I left a message with the company requesting an estimate. They called back the same day and made an appointment for an estimate. Terry and Jeff arrived at the appointed date and time. They listened to my request, examined the work area and provided and estimate at the end of their visit. I later called them and set an appointment to do the work. Terry and Jeff arrived at the date and time we agreed on with all of the necessary materials. Terry and Jeff went right to work and were able to complete the job that day. The work was completed to my satisfaction. Terry and Jeff were professional at all times, but were sociable and friendly to work with.
I would highly recommend their company.

Jeff and his assistant came over promptly to estimate the job.  I receive an estimate in the mail the next day.  On the following Sunday I realized that there was rain in the forecast for Monday.  I called a few roofer without luck.  Jeff was the first one to call me on Monday morning and tarped the roof later that morning for about $245.   

Several weeks later, I called to arrange a time for the work to be performed.  They completed the repair job as estimated and with quality work. They cleaned up after themselves and left my home in excellent condition. I certainly will recommend them to anyone looking for roofing work.

They did the estimate while I was at work, left me a written estimate and then answered my questions when I called to approve the work.  They did the work in one day and cleaned up after themselves.  My neighbor said they were organized and completed the job in a timely manner.

I decided to do the job myself so I didn't call them to do anything else.  I thought they were a little sloppy.  They gave me a verbal estimate but I asked them to fax me one to flush it out a little bit better.  They didn't give anything because it was a fairly small job and they had plenty of work to do.  They just weren't interested and I think they could have been a little bit more forthright about that.  The estimate was for $450.  They were fairly responsive.  I wouldn't call them for another estimate.
