CB Electrical was referred to me for questions I had about programming my Pentair variable speed pool pump. I spoke to Vickie and told her the purpose for the appointment was so I could learn how to program my variable speed pump. She gave me an appointment on 6/28 between 2:00-5:00 p.m. I left work early on the 28th in order to arrive home before 2:00 p.m. and found a note on my door saying "sorry we missed you" - Chris from CB Electrical had come by at 11:00 a.m. rather than 2:00 p.m. His note said he had reprogrammed my control system and he would send me an invoice. Neither he nor Vickie called me to tell me that he had come at 11:00 a.m. I called Vickie to tell her that I was very upset that Chris had come 3 hours early and that she didn't call to tell me that. I had used a half day of vacation time to get home in time for an appointment that she had scheduled. She told me that they were "very busy" at this time of year, and he had come by early because of another job he had scheduled that day. I told Vickie I would only pay her invoice if Chris came back out to meet with me as I had asked in the first place, but I had to wait until July 15 for another appointment. The purpose of making the appointment the first time was so I could discuss programming issues with him and ask questions about how to set the program cycles for maximum efficiency - that didn't happen because he decided to do the work without me there. To make matters worse, I had no idea what he did when he "reprogrammed the controls." I became very concerned when I noticed that my pressure valve was now reading at 30 psi rather than the usual 10 psi, and I didn't know what the run times were. Because I was concerned, I contacted another company - Affordable Pool Service on Monday (7/1) and Grant came out the next day. He spent about 45 minutes with me and he also placed a call to Pentair's Tech Support. The technician confirmed my concern about the pump running at 30 psi, and he suggested lower speeds and times for two different cycles. I now have a full understanding of my variable speed pump and how to control and program it. I paid Affordable $100 for the service call. I called CB Electrical to cancel their return visit and told them that I would not be paying for the first visit because it was not what I asked for and I wasted 4 hours of my vacation time to show up for an appointment that they didn't keep. Vickie told me that she would contact her attorneys to collect the $95 from me. Apparently, CB Electrical's time is important but the customer's isn't. I would not suggest using a company that does this to their customers.
