Steve Swenson Construction Tile

To begin with I never got a official quote on a piece of paper so I guess that was my fault. I showed Steve what I wanted and he quoted 1400.00 without supplies. 
  A couple days into the job he asked for 1/2 of the payment( which I had no problem with but he said he normally asks for it  and never said anything about that) so I dropped it off at his house because I was gone when he was at the my house
 He came back the next couple days and I thought finished the job. I paid him....... but  he had a few more things to do.  Such as attach trim at the bottom of the wall, touch up some paint at the top and also along the edge of the tile grout.  i told him I would touch up one area, but he just left the other areas with grout on them.  I paid him thinking that he would come back on Monday as he said to fix these things. Well 9am came and went on Monday and I text-ed him and he said since it was a holiday he was going to stay home ......!!!! I commented I had already paid him and he stated he would come out to fix the grout and the board and hang my mirror.   He came out and we got ready to hang the mirror and it was broken so I had to take it back to Lowes, so I left gone like 15 minutes.  I come back to the board nailed in and none of the nail holes even tried to be covered, Grout dust on the floor and him gone.  I text-ed him and told him I was not happy....he stated if I got the materials he would come back and fix what I was unhappy with.  O K well that was it, I never heard back.  So lesson learned:
Get a quote in paper
Don't pay until completely satisfied
Get Receipt! (never gave me one but oh boy ran to the bank with my check when I gave it to him, both times)
All he had to do was come back and fix a few things, the tile and fixtures were done nicely , he just got paid and didn't care from that point on.
I thought he was more professional that that.

We use him all the time. He does not over charge people. I trust him and give him the keys to my house. We have left him weekends to keep the house. He is quick and honest and we have become more of friends.

He is the kind of person that you can the leave the keys of your house with and feel good. He is very trustworthy and very good. I highly recommend him. We always have him doing something. If I save up enough money I will have him do more work on my home. My brother-in-law uses him on his rental property. He keeps busy. In this economy, he is always working. Over the last 5 years we have spent at least $50,000. He is dependable, honest, he doesn't gouge you and he keeps a clean work site. He is just a very nice guy. He works very quickly. He goes in and gets the job done. I don't know where he gets his energy, but he has energy. I can't think of anything negative about him, he does treat us very well because we have been very good to him. His specialties are not plumbing and electrical.
