My daughter took a pool water sample for an analysis and advised me of the chemicals required to pick up at Leslie's Geer Rd, Turlock, CA store after work. Arrived and store manager, told me I needed two packs of shock and a seasonal bottle of algae remover, which I purchased. Got home, daughter showed me the water analysis report, reflecting all categories ok except phosphates high at "300." Daughter called store and spoke to salesman, and asked what the correct analysis was, as I was not sold the Algaecide with the phosphate remover, but sold chlorine packs not needed (overall chlorine rated 4 ppm), She handed me the phone in frustration, and when I asked about the products sold to me which differed from the analysis report, he became rude and would not explain why. He sarcastically asked if I were following what he was saying, which didn't make sense. I paused approximately 5 to 10 seconds unsure of how to respond and he hung up. I called back and office manager, answered and asked me to hold. He sat the phone down and I could hear transactions at the counter; then I heard tell someone, "I hung up on her." I then heard the manager answer another line to help a customer, and as I continued to hold, he then asked someone in the store if he could help them. I'd been a customer since 2003. Approximately two years ago, I complained about how another salesman working there at the time, as he would stop helping me, even when ready to purchase an item, if a man walked in. He would immediately ask the man, "Can I help- you, sir?" It happened at least four times before I filed a complaint. I believe the manager had a problem with me ever since. But would he deliberately recommend the wrong products for my pool? I went into the store to get the algaecide shortly after and, was told by he salesman that the manager was on a service call, and then was treated disrespectfully by that salesman. He even went so far as to blame the office manager, saying that he's been a manager for 12 years and recommended what I'd bought. What's wrong with saying, he made a mistake and here's what you need, or give a reason the manager was adamant about selling me what he sold me--that didn't match the store's water analysis? I simply stated that I wanted the right chemicals for my pool, and couldn't understand their treatment of me. He then took it to an unbelievable level--he accused me of making a "scene" and refused to sell me the algaecide/ He told me to leave! Then he respectfully asked a man who entered the store if he could help him, and did! Repeat performance? I rate that store as gender biased when it comes to how they treat people, rude, and unbelievably unprofessional. We drove to Leslie's in Modesto to get what was needed and left a complaint with a visiting manager there. Since, I'd called at least three more times, but the District Manager for the Modesto, Turlock areas never called me back. All I can say is, they are apparently not concerned about the demeaning way they treat female customers. The worst part is the top management doesn't care...
