Diagnosing the problem took a long time. The technician checked the water pressure in all sink and shower faucets and checked the water heater as well. He said I should do something about the water heater. The problem was in the tub/shower faucet balancing spool which he discovered at the very end of the visit. He was able to get some warm water from the faucet before he left. The technician should have checked it at the beginning, it would have saved a lot of time and money.
The travel time charge was not explained when I set up the appointment. The first appointment included travel time from the office to my house and back to the office. My house is 4.7 miles from the office. I was charged $49 travel time for the evaluation. Travel time was included on the second visit as well. Apparently all Fred Hill appointments include a travel time fee.
The total charge for a ceramic cartridge balancing spoon and balancing spooler retainer serving tub/shower valve was $431. Most other plumbing services do not charge a travel fee. I think the total cost was excessive.
