About half way through the job I got a cll from the contractor and he told me that he made a miistake and bid it to low and that he needed $1,200.00 to finish the job, I told him that we had a contract and that was all I was going to pay. Had they done the job like we talked about I might of paid that extra money, But because they jacked me around so long I decided not to pay it. They also don't replace any of the old vents, which I thought was part of the job, My miistake. They also don't pull any of the old nailes they puound them in and that makes it dangerous if you need to get up in the atic to do anything cause all of these nails are sticking through and do a great job on your head, Like pooking holes in it. Not very safe , Again my fault I guess I should of asked but this is my first roofing job so I didn't know any better. THe workmanship on the roof was fine it's just that they took a lot longer to complet it they we agreed on.
There were a couple of little areas that needed to be adjusted and Armor Roofing willingly came and fixed it. Our experience with Armor Roofing was a very positive one.
The existing shake roof was removed, 8 bags of insulation was blown into the area between ceiling and roof, sheathing was laid, several feet of plywood was replaced by in the eves, waterproofing applied (Tigers Paw), shingles laid and roofcaps installed. A sub-contractor installed the gutters.
The workers did excellent work and were courteous and professional. Each day they cleaned the work area. All work was done within the timeline and there were no surprise costs.
During the course of this project, I found a "Rebate for Troops" by the manufacturer of the roofing materials (GAF). It required us to complete a form and provide UPC codes, etc. however, the Roofing Contractor's Office staff completed the paperwork and sent it in for us.
My only real problem with the project was with the Project Manager. Although a nice guy and I'm sure he knows his business, he did not communicate with me as to when workers would arrive/leave, what was to be done each day, proper coordination with the A/C contractor or when payment was expected. Luckily, the workers coordinated and completed tasks without much disruption.
The Gutter subcontractor, C-Seamless, was exceptional...if I find them on your list, I will write a separate review for them.
It would be nice if Armor could provide a list of addresses so potential customers can look at what the products look like on up on the roof...
Got an estimate and it was same as other companies I had recieved estimates from. The reason for choosing Armor Roofing was that they offered to do some little extras that included sweeping the moss off the other part of the roof , painting the older galvanized valleys and couple of other things But they did not do these extras, In my opinion don't offer to do the little extras to just get the job and if you offer extras you should follow through and do them. As Far as the roofing that was installed it looks good exccept I think the flashing over the fascia board does not sit flush on the front side looks unprofessional. In my opinion the reason the extras were not done was the comment was made that the job was under bid. as far as the time frame of job completion I told the estimator that we are from out of state working on a rental home and gave him a time when we were leaving I was promissed that the job would be done before we left. That did not happen the job was completed after we had left for home so we were not there to inspect the fished job had to have my son go by to see if it was done right, but he was not sure what to look for.I was not given a written estimate MY MISTAKE FOR NOT ASKING FOR ONE. So I have no recourse as far as the extras offered not being done. As far as the workers they were polite did a good job installing the roofing (except flashing) cleaning up and were good workers
"The Member called Armor Roofing on Jan 20, 2010 for emergency repairs. We sent out a crew the same day to fix the leaking and it was paid at that time. However, both he and our crew knew that it was only temporary repairs to prevent further water damage. Therefore, on February 10, 2010 the Member approved the contract of $1275 for permanent repairs. The work demanded custom metal that had to be manufactured specifically for his roof and it required proper outdoor temperature to apply repairs to the roof (hence the uncustomary gap between the signed contract and the completion date.)) He has a unique roof system that required special considerations. We completed the repairs on March 17th. It states in our contract that payment is due upon completion. Furthermore we sent out the invoice on 3/25/2010. When no payment was made on the account, we sent finance charges for $15.37 which does not include our standard finance charges and service charges. Customer received the late notice and sent in payment, closing the account. It is unfortunate that the Member was not satisfied with the price and billing procedures. However, we stand behind the work we completed for him."
"Armor Roofing is proud of our 99% satisfaction rate and successful completion of over 20,000 jobs in the central valley. We take all complaints seriously and wish that we could have this problem resolved. We are also extremely proud of our staff and employees regardless of their nationality, whether German, Italian or Hispanic. We can honestly say that we can count the number of unsatisfied customers on one hand. All of our contracts include materials and labor, including nails, as in his contract as well. Dry Rot is not visible to Armor Roofing's salesman who sold the job. We provided this customer all dry rot repairs free of charge to the roof decking and sheeting areas. However there was dry rot damage to the structural members which was repaired at our cost and only charged at our cost, as specified in the contract. This is standard for any roofing company. All of our employees have gone through extensive background checks prior to hiring by a private firm. In addition, all hours are recorded and all employees have taxes and worker's compensation provided. (This includes weekly checks made by a private firm who maintains their records.) Most of our employees were born within the United States and english is their primary language. As for our subcontracted gutter specialists, we have used them since 2004 without incident. They are a family run business including children in their twenties that assist them. They also have all required local and state licenses, permits and meet all local and state laws. Armor Roofing pulled a permit on this job and had regularly scheduled inspections completed by the permit office. (Pre-Inspection, Sheet, Nail, Final). Issues regarding the permit passing were due to painting exposed wood, which is not covered under our license and is required to be completed by building owner, as specified in the contract. We are grateful for his business and wish that the matter could have been resolved to his satisfaction. However we stand behind the work we completed for him."
