Designer - Building
Its been over a year since I hired Joe Mark, paid him $3000 for plans for an ADU. He submitted incomplete plans and hasn't made any corrections. I call him and he ignores my calls, I call from a different number and when he knows its me he just tells me he will finish by Friday and never does. He also only calls me back when I text him that I want my money back since he never gave me completed, and says he will be done by this evening. I took his plans to another Architect and they tell me its not a full plans there's just to many missing information, a real plan has atleast 8 pages with information on the building being build, his where only 3 pages. At the end he got tired of me calling him and he told he will no longer work on my plans and is done with me, I said okay return at least the last $1500 I paid you for giving me incomplete plans. He said he doesn't have money cause he's retiring and he's to old. Made no sence since he keeps taking on new customers, my uncle also hired hi

Wow, engineer calculations seems to be his issue and communication. We are in year 2 and my father in law still can't get started on his remodeling. I don't know who the h*** likes Joe or who keeps referring him. Do they not see the continuous problem he creates. He needs to be exposed and needs to stop screwing everyone over. He keeps blaming the City or County and saying all of the info is there and he has done thousands of these plans. He continues to say he will get it done, he will do it next week, he will submit it, he also sayd he tried calling the city hall multiple times and can't get thru. I am fed up with this guy that ome how someone referred to my father in law and I just want our plans fixed and proceed with the remodeling. "DO NOT USE JOEMARKDESIGN.COM" He is a nice guy at the beginning and slowly disappears on you. HE IS A "FRAUD" AND MAKES ALL OTHER ARCHITECS LOOK VERY BAD Stop posting reviews with 5 starts with no comments, help repost to get the local law enforcement attention.

We did not hire Mark Design directly. We hired Bourke Construction and Edmund Bourke hired Mark Design to draw the plans. After paying Bourke Construction $2500 and waiting 5 months, we received plans from Mark Design that were simply wrong. The plans did not accurately depict the existing deck and so could not be used for city submission and approval.
After we reviewed the plans and saw that they were incorrect, we contacted Mark Design directly and spoke with Joe Mark. He came out to the house promptly and met with our new contractor. Joe Mark assured us that he would be able to quickly redraw the plans so we could submit them to the city.
On several occasions, Joe Mark told me that he had spoken with the city, showed them his plans, that he had a good friend in the planning department and that his contact told him no problem, our project would almost certainly be approved but it might take about 3 months.
Joe Mark told me that he had redrawn the plans and would submit them to the city. Each time I telephone Joe Mark to see if the plans had been submitted he had some reason he hadn't made it there yet. I told him if he was too busy just to let me know and I would take the plans to the city myself. I told him I understand this was a small project and that if he didn't want to do it, that was OK. I would take the plans and handle it myself and requested that he give me the plans.
He told me no, he wanted to do the project. I talked to him about 2 weeks ago on I believe it was Friday June 13. In our telephone call he told me specifically that he had submitted the newly drawn plans to the city to see if it would approve this project and that he would have some work by the next Monday or Tuesday. I called him several times after that but got no response. I had my contractor call the city today because I did not believe Joe Mark had actually submitted anything to the city. My contractor confirmed that in fact, nothing was submitted to the city.
I left a message with Joe Mark but I don't expect to hear from him again. He and Bourke Construction have been an extremely bad and unfortunate experience. I would urge anyone thinking of doing a construction project to stay away from these two businesses based upon my experience.

Joe starts off by being very friendly and everything is easy, so he says. Then I paid him 825.00 and it all went down hill. He rarely would answer his phone when I checked on the progress. I would have to trick him by calling from my business number to get him to answer. He gave me excuses, attitude, and hung up. Then called me back because he was so unorganized that he lost changes to the plans that we had made, due to Joe Mark's lack of communication skills. He made changes we never asked for and never changed things we asked him too. Joe canceled on many meetings scheduled to clear up confusion on his part.I asked for a refund after he gave me plans for the city for the variance process to start and I was laughed out of the city hall. This is by far my worst experience ever with someone contracted to do work. I work for a major construction company and have never ran into a someone like this! I got nothing for my money so save yours! My family and I have been defrauded.
