"I enjoyed doing it for you. Sorry for the late response. Taking care of elderly family members. Thanks, Barry"
"Thank you very much [Member Name Removed]. We have had a lot of rain this week and last week. Both times would have allowed the sprinkler timer to be turned off for a week. All the best, Barry"
"Thank you [Member Name Removed] for taking the time to write a review. It is much appreciated.."
"Thank you very much. It is always good when one can improve the lives of animals. Hope the house becomes a happy house with the new puppy. Hope the new puppy gets along with the cat. :-)"
"Thank you. Hope your outdoor living room provides a source of happiness during the summer."
"Thank you very much. I will be happy to return and do any sprinkler repairs if any earth movement causes any problems."
"Thank you very much. I'm looking forward to sprucing up the backyard in April."
He offers good advice and recommendations, is conscious of your budget and is punctual. He gets the work done as scheduled. He cleans up and leaves everything in perfect shape.
After working with Barry, I terminated the gardener who spends about 10 minutes every other week and who allowed the yard and garden to get into such bad shape while I was gone. I am buying a lawn mower so I mow the very small yard myself. Barry also talked to me about what I need to do for the weeds in the grass lawn.
I?m planning to call him in a month or so to put some drip lines in for the area outside the master bedroom.
"Thank you very much. I look forward to helping you make the courtyard a visual pleasure, in April or May."
"Thank you for the review. Hopefully your water flow will be improved for this wet winter we are supposed to have."
"Thank you very much. Happy customers are always welcome."
"Thanks for the comments, and also thanks for the referral to two of your neighbors."
"I hope your new home provides years of happiness."
He was on time, professional, and friendly to talk with. He did his work just as he stated and it looked fantastic. Two weeks later and it still looks great, of course, we are following his instructions. I have already recommended him to others.
"I'm glad that it looked so good. It was good working with you."
"It looked great upon completion. I'm looking forward to doing more stages."
around it per my request to accomplish the task. Wonderful work. I'm very pleased.
I'm planning on more work and plan on utilizing his services/skills
further. Thank you to him, will be calling again soon.
"Thank you. :-) Looking forward to putting the sod in."
had wanted to update some of the plants, such as getting rid
of ferns and some other plants that weren?t working out. He
met with me and went over each area that I wasn?t happy with.
I was thinking of going one direction (New Zealand flax and
decorative grasses). He felt the flax would grow to be too wide
for the small areas where they would go. He also noted that
other than our Japanese Red Maple, everything in our yard
was green. He suggested going with something with more
color, such as nandinas and colorful succulents. He also said
we should steer away from grasses since they will go to seed
and have to be cut back and/or replaced each year. So we
decided to go with blue fescue and mondo grass ? both of
which do well in our yard and don?t have the problem of going
to seed and needing frequent replacement. Another brilliant
solution Barry came up with was to put some pots with tall
succulents up against the block wall. Not only do they break
up the wall, they deter our cat from jumping up on the wall. He
also suggested we convert a beloved fountain that is no longer
in use into a two-tiered succulent garden. Barry also pointed
out that over the years, dirt and bark had been pushed up
against the weep screed of the foundation. This could have
resulted in water leaking into the wall and causing mold. He
also checked all of our sprinklers and made notes of which
ones needed to be adjusted or replaced.
On the day of the actual job, Barry did all the work
himself. He felt the job was small enough that he didn?t need to
hire any help. I was very happy because I knew we'd get the
personal care and detail of the business owner. That's one
reason I chose Aussie Landscape in the first place. He showed
up early and worked most of the day, in the heat. He planted
6 nandina shrubs, 23 mondo, black mondo or blue fescue,
cleared everything away from the weep screed, added a micro
drip for one of the pots against the wall (not part of his quote
and something he did for no-charge), fixed and adjusted all the
sprinklers, and spread 12 bags of bark.
Most impressive was the care Barry took with everything he
worked on. Most landscapers I?ve seen make a mess and then
blow it into the planter beds or bark when they are done.
Instead, Barry carefully placed each shovel-full of removed soil
in large bags for disposal. Not a single dirt clod was left behind.
When he dug holes for the mondo or fescue where our dymondia
ground cover is growing, he carefully put the ?plugs? of dymondia
in plastic pots so that we could use them in another area where
they were needed. When he finished for the day, the yard looked
great, was neat and tidy, and it was all done without a leaf-blower.
Nice!
I also really appreciated the advice that he provided each
time I would go out to check on his progress. He was a fountain of knowledge,
which he freely offered. Barry is one of the nicest people I?ve ever met, let
alone had working on my yard. We were so impressed with his work, his ideas,
and his advice; we decided to pay him $1,200 instead of the $1,030 he invoiced
us for. He was worth every penny.
"Thank you for your very nice and lengthy review. It was a pleasure working for you and I enjoyed doing the work. I just had another customer convert their leaking fountain into a succulent garden (I suggested this to them months ago) and it looks excellent. Glad your follow up hardscape worked out well too. From the pictures it looks like it was very well done."
"Thank you for the review. I hope the new tree is flourishing still. Happy New Year. :-)"
"Thank you very much. I hope everything is working / growing fine now. Don't hesitate to give me a call if you have any other issues. Happy holidays. :-)"
"Thank you very much. I hope your front lawn heals. During the winter you could get it re-established with winter rye seed, which will help the existing lawn, in the spring and summer. Good luck, Aussie Landscape"
We obtained estimates from several landscaping outfits, including a referral from a neighbor who recently had their lawn done, and some other highly rated Angie's List companies. All of the folks we met with were very professional, and we probably would have been happy with their work as well had we gone with them.
However, when we met Barry for the first time for an estimate, my wife and I were thoroughly impressed. Barry actually stopped by for an estimate during his lunch break from another job he was working on, and even though he was probably strapped for time, he was very thorough and took his time looking over the yard and chatting with us.
One of the things we were super impressed with is that we had originally planned to sod and put grass over the entire back yard, including a part of our side yard (and the other vendors gave us quotes for that). Barry actually advised us against that, and he explained about how certain parts of the yard during the year based on our house and where we were situated may not receive the proper amount of sunlight during the winter months, and could mean that long term we wouldn't have a healthy lawn. Even though that bit of advice may have cost him a little short term revenue, that attention to detail, honesty, passion and knowledge about his craft made us a long term partner in our eyes.
After Barry left and gave us an window when we could expect the estimate (a couple of days), my wife and I were definitely sold on Barry, and just hoping the estimate came in close to the other ones we received. We actually were at a point that if Barry's was even a little bit higher than some of our others, we'd still be willing to go with him. To our amazement, Barry's estimate came in lower that our others, which sealed the deal immediately.
One of the other things about Aussie Landscape is that you are dealing with not only Barry the owner, but Barry the professional who does also does the work. He and his assistant Jim (who helped him the first day on cleanout and was also super nice) were prompt and got right to work. Over the next several days Barry really transformed our dirtpile into a beautiful lush lawn. He was very good about explaining things along the way and making recommendations for different types of flowers and plants that we could grow later and would complement the lawn and have a good chance of thriving in the area.
Barry finished the project on time and he even wrote up a list of future care for the lawn to keep it nice and healthy. He even came back for a courtesy visit the week after to check up on the lawn and check the sprinkler settings to see if they needed to be adjusted.
Needless to say, it's been a little over a month since Barry put in our new lawn and it still looks gorgeous. The recommendations and advice he gave us was great, and he didn't try to upsell us or try and change things to change up the project (which some other contractors are notorious for doing).
We would highly recommend Barry to anyone looking at doing some landscaping and want a knowledgeable, hardworking and super nice professional who truly enjoys the work he does and seems to genuinely care about the long term satisfaction and happiness of his clients. The next time we need any sort of landscape project, we won't need to shop around - we've found our long term landscaping expert in Barry and Aussie Landscape!b
"Thank you very much. Your project had a few challenges (like finding and grading towards the drains) but we accomplished it. :-) With winter rye, and fertilizing in the spring, your front lawn will also look a lot better. Good luck, and thank you again."
My neighbor highly recommended Barry. He is knowledgeable and has extensive experience in landscaping. I have a townhome style condo with a relatively good-sized back yard. I had no idea as to what I could do with the space, other than I wanted to have succulents and a fountain. . When Barry came over to look at the space he immediately came up with a great way to best utilize the space to create a beautiful succulent garden and walkways, including lighting and the fountain. My old wooden planters had pretty much disintegrated so he built several planters and walkways and chose a perfect collection of plants. He also brought some accent rocks which gave the garden great character.. He is meticulous with the placement of everything including blocks, rocks, plants and lighting. He also had to do some repair work on my sprinkler system. His prices were very reasonable. I love my back yard and so does everyone else who sees it.
I also want to mention that he saw and corrected some problems that could have caused some expensive repairs in the future.
"Thank you very much. I enjoyed working for you, and seeing it all come together. :-)"
"Thank you very much. I will be interested to see in about 6 months, how they are treated by your gardeners. The Saint Augustine will come back in the dry areas with a little "hose" encouragement. :-)"
"Thank you very much. Also thank you for saving the tool that I left behind, and informing me of it. Hope all is well. :-)"
