Sal Delgado, the owner of N. S. Delgado contracting, was referred to us by a highly rated contractor who was too busy to take on any new jobs. Before hiring Sal, we called a bunch of contractors. Not a single one of the other dozen we called even wanted to take a look first and give us an estimate! Some simply wanted us to first go out and buy our own prehung door assembly, and over the phone quoted us a huge sum to replace the entire door with the frame-- without even bothering to look first! Some said our job was too small, unless we were willing to pay a lot of money to make it worth their while, and that we should just tear out the whole exterior door and frame and replace the whole thing. Some of them did not inspire a sense of reliability or honesty. Some sounded like they were annoyed by our request and were doing us a favor, instead of competing for the opportunity to provide a service. Sound familiar? Then we called Sal Delgado. Sal was one of the couple of contractors we called that listened carefully and was quite willing to come out for an estimate. He came out, took a look, and said that we did not need to go to the expense and huge mess of replacing the whole door and frame since the rot was limited only to bottom eight inches on each side of the jamb, and the door and the rest of the jamb was square, solid and worked properly. Sal outlined a a method to simply remove the rotted sections and replace them. Sal said he'd happily take care of it and he quoted us a reasonable price. We appreciated his honesty, and he's very personable and friendly. So we hired Sal, and boy are we glad we did. Sal arrived on time. He kept the job site organized and cleaned up periodically as he went along. After everything was patched he went the extra mile by caulking everywhere needed, not just where the rot was, to prevent future water infiltration and he shimmed and secured the aluminum door threshold, which had been a little loose. At the end of the repair you could not tell that there was ever any damage at all. It looks great and has a solid and secure feel to it. If you're looking for honesty, friendliness, good workmanship, cleanliness, conscientiousness and a fair price, then Sal Delgado is definitely worthy of your consideration. He's licensed and bonded too. Sal saved us a couple thousand dollars because of his honesty. He does both small and large repair/remodel jobs. So, we feel Sal will be a great resource for us for future work we may need. We can recommend him highly.
