 + 0 morePhil was very helpful in explaining his thought process before he submitted his bid and spent time with us after we received his bid to value engineer the project (reduce costs and still allow us to get what we wanted). He submitted the lowest bid, finished ahead of schedule, and helped us stay within budget. His workers worked 6 days/week continuously throughout the duration of the project. For a period of time, Genuine Construction was very busy with our project and other projects. Phil was so busy that he hired a finish carpenter to work on our project. The carpenter did a great job but expended too many hours. Phil revealed to me that he lost money on this portion of the job, but he wanted to make sure that our project did not get slowed.
Description of Work: I had Genuine Construction build a home addition in Albany and am pleased with the process and results. Phillip Chen is the owner and, although he is young, he is experienced and is a good problem solver. There were several times during construction when we had some design problems, and he made helpful suggestions and recommendations. He was respectful of our property and our space, as we were living in the house during the entire duration of construction. He also helped us pick up materials, including a bathroom vanity, hardwood flooring, and closet doors, at no additional cost and let us borrow his hardwood flooring tools, which saved us a bunch of money. Phil is not the type of contractor that will nickel-and-dime you, and his change orders were performed at-cost with minimal markup. He is very professional, communicates well, and runs an honest business. He truly wants to build a successful project and have a satisfied client. I would definitely recommend Genuine Construction for your home addition or home remodel.
