Appliance Guy

Ilyas tried sincerely to fix my Maytag clothes dryer.  He just didn't know how.  The dryer wasn't drying completely - only partially.  On his first visit, Ilyas said I needed a new "controller" which he ordered and replaced and said it was fixed.  It wasn't.  On his next visit he said the new part had stressed another part which he replaced and declared it fixed.  It wasn't.  On his next visit he ordered yet another part which he later replaced and said it was fixed, although on his exit he suggested I hire an electrician to make sure we weren't losing voltage.  The dryer wasn't fixed.  I hired an electrician who said everything was fine with the wiring.  I finally called Mike Duran of Appliance Techs of Marin.  In 30 seconds he diagnosed the problem:  Ilyas had installed the controller upside down.  He corrected that but asked to see the old controller because he wasn't sure that was the original problem.  It seemed to him that more likely my moisture censor needed cleaning which he did.  Ilyas did not leave me with the old controller, so we don't know about that.  The dryer now works.  We wrote Ilyas requesting a refund.  He did not respond.
