My father-in-law is 89 years old and has dementia. He hired this company/Jack to complete touch ups on his house, which is a 3 bed, 1 bath built in 1955. Jack charged my father-in-law $2,000 to have the walls painted, carpet removed to reveal hardwood flooring, installing new baseboards throughout the house, and installing linoleum in the kitchen. Regarding painting, I caught Jack watering down the paint in the bathroom. We also discovered the backs of the doors were not painted. Furthermore we can see crayon marks left on the walls through the paint. When I discussed this with Jack, he initially stated he used 15 gallons of paint, then later changed his story to 20 gallons. We had painted the same areas of the home six years earlier and the process only took six gallons of paint. Jack subcontracted out the job of installing linoleum. This specialist named Nick was efficient and did a great job. However, Nick informed us that Jack only paid him $25 to do this job. The carpet was properly removed since it was just glued down. Jack removed our baseboards but never installed new ones. He then came back and told us we would need to pay him additional money for new baseboards. At this time the home has no baseboards. Jack also removed and did not return light switch coverings or house keys. We had to change our locks. Overall, Jack never finished the job and would not show me the invoice of the items he purchased. When I investigated his State of California contractor's license, he was not listed on the license. He was using someone else’s license which was also invalid. He continues to advertise his services every day in the Merced Sun Star and I feel he is target senior citizens.
