I think Daniel is very responsible and professional to deal with. His crew is hard working and they all did whatever it took to make me happy. He was willing to make multiple trips to put up color samples until I found a color that I liked and my designer agreed
with. He didn't charge extra for every trip made to place more samples or to correct other items I asked for, so many subs are change order happy! Not Daniel with Hackett painting.
This review originally was composed by an Angie's List phone agent by paraphrasing my telephone comments. Apologies if it is a bit disjointed and not in my usual and quot;voice.and quot;
This was the lowest of four bids that I received. The company was recommended highly by my real estate agent. When the owner came to talk to me about the job, he made me feel very confident about how the job would go. He said that two of his employees would be doing the job and that they would be done in 4 or 5 days. Only one person ended up doing the job and it took a week and a half. I had serious communication problems with that employee.
The prep work was poor, short cuts were taken, and they would not even cut the old carpet away from the base trim, which created a huge mess when new carpet was installed the following week. I was very particular about my choice of colors. One of the colors was for two bathrooms and another was for a bedroom. They promised they would do tests for these two colors so I could approve them prior to painting. I was not living there at the time, and when I stopped by the next day as we'd agreed in order to give the color approval, he had already painted all three rooms with two coats. The bedroom color turned out fine, but the color for the two bathrooms was awful.
The employee initially did a fairly careful job, but as he moved around my condo, he dinged up things he had just finished painting, even knocking over a ladder that splintered six inches of window trim. Never did he call any of this damage to my attention. I called the owner, who came to look at the window trim damage, and he had his employee come by to fix it that same day. I honestly think the owner was surprised at how much damage his employee had caused.
They did not adequately clean the cabinets prior to painting, so the paint did not properly adhere and has been flaking. The painter also used my bathroom and kitchen sink to empty his buckets, so after I moved in I had to remove paint scum from my drains. Toward the end of the job, I just wanted to be done with them all together. I would definitely not use them again or recommend them to anyone.
I have a recessed light over a shower stall, and when the painter pulled the trim down to paint he could not get it to fit back properly. I had to have my electrician come and reinstall it to the tune of $100.
