I called Caleb at Busy Bee Garage Doors Inc. and he already had a full schedule even though it was Saturday; but he postponed a dinner date with his wife to come out in the early evening and fix the door.
He called to let me know when he would be arriving, and he arrived exactly on time. He got out his tools and a short inspection of the door turned up the problem: the door was new one year ago, and the new spring on one side had lost some tension, allowing a cable to release.
Caleb put the door back on its tracks, fixed the cable, adjusted the tension on both springs, adjusted the setting which stops the door from trying to close if an object (like a person) is caught in the door, and lubricated and tested the whole system.
He accepts credit cards which made it easy for me to pay the bill. He charged more than usual because (1) it was Saturday; (2) he had to come after normal hours; and (3) he had to squeeze it into his schedule with no advance notice. I felt the price was completely fair under the circumstances, and he didn't just pop the door back onto its track, he adjusted and lubricated the whole system.
