-Dean (Owner of London Restoration) does what he says he is going to do. One should expect that; however, in today's world customer service is often at the bottom of the list....not with Dean! -VERY responsive...Dean actually responds to emails and phone calls. He reminds you of how things and quot;usedand quot; to be. -All the horror stories that exist regarding contractors....Dean is just the opposite. -What a pleasure to work with Dean and his team -Our kitchen is STUNNING!!!

Just so there is no misunderstanding, the 9K cost I mention above was not the total cost of the bathroom remodel.... Dean's quotes are for labor and materials he provides ONLY. For 9K, they did all of the demolition, installation, clean-up and hauling away, electrical, plumbing, painting, some of the construction materials that they provided to get the job done, and they built a custom-sized solid wood vanity cabinet with a matching framed mirror. My wife and I, being extremely particular, picked out and purchased our own tub, toilet, faucets and fixtures, floor tile, paint, etc., and had those materials ready for Dean in the garage when his team arrived. If you don't want to deal with that yourself, he'll be happy to help you pick out your finishing materials, purchase them and bring them to your site, and his quotes will include the cost of those materials. The 9K also did not include the cost of our custom cultured marble vanity top with integrated sink and the cultured marble shower surround. Dean connected us with a company he is very familiar with that build and installed those for us, and we had our own contract with the marble people. However, Dean's guys and the marble guys coordinated perfectly, and the job never slowed down. All that being said, the entire cost for the bathroom remodel was less than 13K. Dean and his guys were friendly, polite, cleaned up thoroughly before leaving every day, left no mess behind, and were punctual; the one day that they were running behind due to an accident on the freeway, they called in the morning to give me a heads up. The quality of the vanity cabinet and mirror that Dean built was very good, much better than anything you could buy off the shelf from a big-box store, and was around the same cost. Would I use Dean and his guys again? I'll answer that this way....we plan on refreshing our second bathroom soon, and he is the first, and perhaps only, person we're going to call.

Service Provider Response

This is not true, I did return his phone call and he told me that he was going to do something different and did not need my services. Three weeks later he called back and wanted me to come out and look at what he wanted done. I talked to [member name removed] personally and told him that I was not interested in doing what he wanted to do. He then came to my shop and insisted that I come out and see what he wanted done to his house. He was told again that we were not interested in working for him.

After initially contacting two general contractors recommended by family and close friends; and waiting three weeks for promised estimates/bids that never materialized, I decided to give Angie’s List a try….a community of neighborhood contractor references. I quickly short-listed four general contractors (three of them from Angie’s List) with recent experiences in condo/apartment unit bathroom and vanity remodeling in/or near Alameda, CA. I selected London Restoration for the project: bathroom, hallway vanity and closet remodeling. Catching my eyes was London Restoration’s specialty in kitchen, bathroom and vanity cabinet-making. This review shares my experiences of London Restoration through initial contact; estimate/proposal/ bid; project execution; and completion and wrap-up. Initial Contact: Of the six total contractors I contacted for this project, only London Restoration answered with a “live person”. His name was Patrick, the office administrator for London Restoration. He took down my contact information and general summary of my proposed project. Two days later, I met with Dean Jensen (owner, general contractor, project manager) at the condo unit for a walk-through and detailed discussion of my proposed project. Immediate impression: responsive and timely. Estimate/Proposal/Bid: My initial face-to-face meeting with Dean Jensen was at the condo unit. He was on time; waiting for me at the Visitor Parking Lot. We discussed the project scope in detail; Dean took measurements and notes; and made design recommendations consistent with my design criteria: durability, longevity, and classic appearance. Within 24-hours, I received an email from Patrick with the proposal and estimate for the project. It was very nice of Patrick to give me a courtesy call on my cell that I have the project proposal in my email box. All other contractors required 1 to 1-1/2 week and a follow-up email from me to submit their respective bid. London Restoration’s bid was detailed and comprehensive including diagrams (the best of all bids received). Full transparency was provided with line-by-line costs. London Restoration’s bid was very competitive, but was not the least expensive of four bids received. I selected London Restoration because Dean was most creative with the bathroom and vanity cabinet design recommendations. His competitors provided standard, “pick it up at Home Depot/Lowe’s “cabinet recommendations. Project Execution: Project started immediately the following Monday. Hallmarks of London Restoration’s project execution: and middot; Dean was expedient securing the requisite permit with the City of Alameda; and scheduling of periodic inspections as the project progressed. Both Dean and Marvin established a respectful rapport with the building inspectors. They anticipated building inspector’s requirements and implemented them before it became a documented finding. and middot; Punctual. Dean (pm, cabinet-maker), Marvin (plumber, painter) and Imer (apprentice, painter) arrived between 8 to 8:30am each morning and worked until 5pm (unless ahead of daily schedule). and middot; Kept work area clean and tidy during and at the end of each day. and middot; Focused; often working through lunch; and did not take breaks. and middot; Plumbing issues and challenges were dealt with by Marvin quickly and calmly. A “cup is half-full” kind of guy. At the time of this writing, there is one outstanding issue being address. Will update this review accordingly. and middot; Kept a working toilet each evening for condo tenant throughout the project. and middot; Dean, Marvin and Imer were extremely conscientious of their workmanship throughout. and middot; Highly communicative. Each evening, Dean/Marvin reviewed accomplishments for the day and plans for the next day. and middot; Dean demonstrated great memory abilities. Every pre-contract discussion points were remembered and placed in execution at the proper time. I was impressed! Completion and Wrap-Up: Project estimated for three weeks; completed one week ahead of schedule. Project outcome attributes: and middot; High quality work results. and middot; Bathroom and hallway vanity cabinets are beautiful! Dean took the time to stain cabinets three times to obtain the desired color. and middot; Prep-work and painting of bathroom, vanity and trims were extremely professional. and middot; Nice touches added: corner soap caddy included with cultured marble shower/tub wall paneling; and back of vanity wood cut-outs for plumbing under each cabinets. and middot; At project completion, both Marvin and Imer polished the wood cabinets, wiped down the cultured marble vanity tops, and windexed the mirrors.
Description of Work

In addition, two hallway closets were fitted with new wood panel by-pass sliding doors and rails. Obtained requisite permit from the City of Alameda; coordinated and scheduled building inspections during appropriate phases of project. Prep work and painted newly renovated bathroom, hallway vanity, and door trims.

I received many quotes and Dean was the most knowledgeable regarding all aspects of this remodeling job. Although his bid was not the least expensive, we felt like his honesty and experience outshined all other contractors. Dean and his staff went out of their way to accommodate our family as our kitchen was out of service. His staff was clean and considerate. And all services were completed as contracted.
Description of Work
Dean took out a wall separating the kitchen and living room, adding ceiling lights, granite counters, tile flooring, new sink, stove and refaced and refinished the cabinets. The work was completed as promised in a clean and timely manner. Dean has been doing this for many years and his professionalism shines through. I highly recommend his services for all aspects of home remodeling. I also had Dean replace a kitchen window after the remodel was completed.

I highly recommend Dean and London Restoration. He was very friendly and professional. He really listened to all of our ideas and suggestions. He completed the job in less than his estimated time and charged us less than the estimated amount. Our fireplace is so gorgeous. He found the perfect cedar, stones, and mantle piece to create the rustic look that we were looking for. He used high quality materials that I believe that we will be able to enjoy for a long time. I really feel that he took time to listen to exactly what it was that we wanted done. He asked lots of questions to clarify every detail of the job to ensure that everything was to our liking. Dean's work completely transformed the room that he was working in. He is very talented and I plan on using him anytime we have a future construction project.

Mr. Jensen came in took some measurements and we talked about what needed to be done. He made suggestions that I hadn't thought of for the cabinets. I received an estimate a few days later and they started the next week. Projected now completed with new tenants moving in soon.
Description of Work
I have an older rental that needed some repairs in the kitchen and laundry room. London came in and replaced cabinets in the laundry room, replaced doors and refinished the kitchen cabinets. They also upgraded some of the electrical and replaced outlets in both rooms. I also had them install new laminate flooring, garbage disposal, faucets and laminate counter tops. I have hired this company before and they do very nice work in a timely manner. Pictures will be posted in a couple of days.

"Overall it was a great experience. They arrived on time everyday at the time we agreed on. The workers were very courteous and considerate to my home. I plan on remodeling my kitchen in the near future, and will definitely be going with London Restoration again. We started the job the first of Oct and one of my requests was it had to be done before the holiday and they finished exactly when they said they would. Dean and his crew were real pro's. I would recommend London Restoration to anyone.
Description of Work
Dean and his crew came in and tore out our master bathroom and installed all new fixtures, toilet and shower. They also installed lights in the ceiling and a new window . All my tile Marvin installed was natural slate stone that Dean helped me pick out. The new oak cabinet was built out of real wood not from a store. They put in all new sheetrock and paint. Our house was built in the 60's and was in real need of a remodel.

Overall experience was great. No complaints on workmanship, quality of materials or length of project. I was told what to expect from them and they delivered!
Description of Work
I purchased a home and London Restoration remodeled the kitchen and both bathrooms. All of the kitchen and bathroom cabinets were replaced, new counter tops, flooring, lighting, new electrical, toilets, new doors, shower/tub with nice tile work, replacement windows, new appliances in the kitchen and granite counter tops. Even though I was on a limited budget the contractor helped me get the most out of what I had to spend. Instead of modular cabinets he built my cabinets in his shop and I got to choose the wood and finish! I was very pleased with the quality of materials and the workmanship. Both the contractor and his crew were very considerate and accomodating. I did want to make some changes as we went along and with no hesitation everything was taken care of. The extra touches and finishing work was outstanding. Once we had agreed on our plan they got to work and were in and out in approximately 5 weeks! Great company.. would definately hire them again or recommend them to someone that wants good old fashioned quality and service!
