I have an old 88 Honda Civic. I just wanted to know if it was worth a cheap paint job. Didn't want to spend too much if it was about to give out on me. They checked it thoroughly, told me what needed to be fixed immediately and what could wait. Immediately meaning if I didn't want to run off the road and crash and burn! Then they worked with me on parts costs.
Mechanic was very friendly and thorough. He was recommended by a friend of mine and I'm very glad I took it there. I trust them.

I just moved to the area from SoCal so finding a good mechanic was important. It took about a week to get an appointment but I view this as a good indication that locals are happy with the service. Overall my experience was excellent. The work was completed quickly, the price was fair and the mechanic left no trace except the disposable mat he used to protect my floor mats. I will definitely use Specialty Foreign Auto in the future.

I love these guys. Their customer service is OUTSTANDING, their prices are very reasonable (shockingly so), they finish on time or before, they are always within the price they quoted, the work they do is outstanding. I don't have one bad thing to say about them. I am so glad they were referred to me and I have referred them to a number of friends. Hands down the best around.

Craig the owner did the work himself and was friendly, affordable, and had the work done in just a few hours. Good service , good owners and employees. I recommend them all the time. And they stand behind their work , even diagnosing the problem and not charging you if you decide to repair it yourself.

It was dealt with almost immediately and completed as quoted.
I have used this shop repeatedly for at least ten years and have never been disappointed. They have installed and maintained, for me, a rebuilt engine, replaced other mechanical components for our Vanagon, our Hyundai, our Ford Escape, and our Isuzu Trooper.

Specialty Foreign Auto was always my family's go-to place with foreign cars, but I'm in Arcata and happy with my local mechanic, so usually don't go there. However, when my Type-S new-to-me Acura started making a knocking noise on bumps and my usual mechanic couldn't pin it down (and doesn't really do suspension work anyway). The strut springs also looked wonky (they appeared to be missing bushings), which I though was related and had me concerned in any case.
I first tried the quick tire and suspension guys (no luck), then another place in Arcata that did suspension work, but after two weeks of trying to order parts, they eventually flaked out and I gave up and decided to go to the experts.
Which was the right call--the guys at Specialty Foreign not only manage to FINALLY track down what the noise was--a cracked ring inside a control arm bushing--but also figured out what exactly was up with the struts (bottom line, they were aftermarket ones that fit a little odd but were sold that way to begin with and the only fix would have been to buy entirely new struts and springs). The guy who was in charge of my car even took the time to show me the bum part and demonstrate what was going on.
It took them some of work, but after stumping three other mechanics, these were the guys who actually found and fixed a problem that had been bugging me for months. The bottom line is they did what it took to figure it out, and they're always very friendly and polite.
They also have a pristine waiting room, if you're stuck there for a while. If you have a foreign car--particularly a more exotic one--you can trust these guys with it.
