They came and finished when they said they would, and also responded to my concerns and questions. They were helpful when I asked for advice on other projects that I needed to do. I wouldn't hesitate to call them again if the need arises.
They arrived on time, organized their supplies and wasted no time getting started. When they came to give me the bid, I had given them the colors and numbers for the paint used by the prior painter who had obviously mislabeled the cans, among his many other shortcomings. Being the professional Floyd proved to be, he put a small sample of the paint on the ceiling. He noticed the shade of white was different than the one on my crown molding and wainscoting, he cheerfully volunteered to go exchange the paint for the correct color. I decided the difference worked ok together, not thinking about the cut in painting that would require. Floyd accomplished that without flaw.
Not only did they do an exceptional job for the work we contracted for, but Floyd volunteered to reinstall my blinds and cornice boards (which had been removed by others) and did an excellent job at no additional cost to me. They also moved the furniture back to the right location. At the end of the first day, since they were returning the following day, I suggested they leave their supplies "as is" but they still tidied up their staging area and left my home in good order.
Upon completion, Jan did the first walk through and she has an excellent eye for detail. I was then encouraged to walk though myself to make sure nothing was missed. It was obvious they take well founded great pride in their work and sincerely want the customer to be happy with the results. I know there is always room for improvement, but I would be hard pressed to identify those areas with MD Painting.
I asked for, and received, estimates for two more projects I've needed for a long time but hesitated to do because of issues with not knowing trustworthy, qualified craftspeople to hire. A big "Thank You" to Angie's List also.
I simply could not be happier than I am with the services provided by MD Painting. I will contract with them do the other projects and recommend they highly.
He had only a few tools - said most were in the truck the other men had - should have been a warning. He did not have a "rag" for mistakes or whatever and his drop cloth draping was questionable - I told him so and he moved it some. He claimed he would not have any drips! I came back from the other room a bit later and he had started with a primer he supplied as he did not like the one I had. I asked why he had not done a light sanding to 'knock down' the blown in finish and he said the primer would handle it. It was reallly too late to sand the walls and he claimed to be experienced so...
He started with the color on the walls - a bright green - and it was not covering the white primer. He started a second coat and I went to get more paint. When I returned he said something about how it was still not covering well and that he should have used a brown colored primer for this color of paint instead of the white.
Angie, he saw the paint I had before he started and he is supposedly a professional painter.
The woodwork around the door had been done in new wood - unsanded and in some places quite rough. I would have sanded all of it and filled parts and re sanded before I put a primer - in other words the 'prep' part. He just started with the primer. I had to go back twice to tell him it needed sanding and in some places filling.
At this point I just let him finish - to his satisfaction.
As I said, this had been the remodel from h*** - started in April and ready to paint in October - really a small and not unusual bathroom!!! I had no energy left to argue with him. I pointed out several spots that he had missed and a couple of spots that were still rough, AND a few drips!. Some he fixed. others, well you can't sand wet paint. I told him I was not happy but that he was done. I paid him and said good bye!
The next week I sanded down the entire bathroom - 'knock down' and woodwork, and painted two more coats of green and after filling, a coat of cream on the wood work. It is beautiful now! I could have saved $500 and a lot annoyance if I'd never called MD Painting. I was so frustrated it took me until now to write this review.
Do pay attention to what tools a work person brings to the project. Do ask a lot of questions. Do not assume anyone has more knowledge than you - whether or not they need more knowledge than you to do the project ask detailed questions to try see if they are as experienced as they say. Do monitor all work - that is do 'be a b****' about any thing you have to mention more than once. This is your project and you are paying for it. Above all, don't assume anything - especially don't assume anyone has 'common sense'.
"I take great pride in customer satisfaction. If I had been notified of any issues with my work, I would have promptly addressed them. In regards to this particular Job, the customer fails to mention that I also painted her entry wall and hall way to the bathroom for no additional cost. She wanted the project to be completed right away which I accommodated and at the time she had no complaints."
They did such a good job. Very detail oriented, meticulous. Protected the furniture and floors. Cleaned up before leaving. Very pleasant, easy to have in our home for five days. Floyd, Jason and Cory really worked well together. They did some repairs to our doors, and a couple of places on our kitchen wall. We thought we would have to replace our interior doors before we decided to go with painting. They look great now! Even our popcorn ceilings look good! Everything looks fresher, cleaner. I did not have to go behind them cleaning.
These guys are professionals, and it shows. we recommend them highly. We have another job for them to do in the future. It was a very good experience!
Cleanup was exemplary, too.
To say they are masters of their craft is an understatement! I was amazed at how Floyd could cut in next to a beam 18ft above his head with no over marks. And where colors changed, his ability on a textured wall to cut a straight line is exceptional! They rolled vs sprayed all walls and the ceilings, applied two different colors and two different sheens (flat for the ceilings and eggshell for the walls). The spindles on the banisters and the trim were again done without any over marks or brush strokes. With careful attention to the prep work: furniture moved and totally covered, hardwood floors and carpeting covered, edges taped, etc. there was little clean-up.
I couldn't recommend a better team and I certainly want perfection!. The job was completed in two days and the results are fabulous. They were punctual, professional, very helpful and truly a pleasure to work with. I expect to be using Floyd and Jan to paint the outside trim and eaves of our 2 story home early next summer.
