Floyd was very professional.  He gave me a fair quote on the price and agreed to start right away.  He even alerted me when he couldn't start on time and worked hard to finish it by the date we needed.  He did a lot of touch up for us and was very flexible and helpful with his services.  He was trustworthy and professional.

These people deserve 10 stars!  They went above and beyond what was requested in the quote.  They very carefully wrapped and protected the furniture and carpet.  Floyd Martin communicated throughout the job on their progress; they beat their estimated completion date.  He repaired things that became evident in the course of their work without charging extra like replacing a clothes dryer exhaust hose that had broken, helped move furniture into place, etc. Floyd and his staff are professional, honest and eminently trustworthy.  I highly recommend them.

Due to the three digit temperatures we rescheduled the work by a week from the original starting date. He showed up in time and finished the work as promised. The workmanship is excellent, no hurry, attentions to details. I will use this company in the near future for the whole exterior repainting and would recommend it to others.

Showed up at the promised time. The job was done in about 5 days with the help of another painter. Meticulous work, utmost attention to details, not a single negative comment I could make. Also, plesant personality, nice talking with him during "coffee breaks". We have already hired him for some exterior job (trims) and later this year for the exterior painting for the whole house.I would recommend him and his team to anybody who is interested in a professionally executed paint job.

They were a very nice couple and were eager to make everything look nice as I was getting the house ready to put on the market.
They came and finished when they said they would, and also responded to my concerns and questions. They were helpful when I asked for advice on other projects that I needed to do. I wouldn't hesitate to call them again if the need arises.

When you start a project with contractors from Angie's List, with such high references, you go in with high expectations. I definitely was not disappointed with MD Painting. Not only are Floyd and Jan very skilled craftspeople, they are extremely polite, considerate and respectful. It was a pleasure doing business with them. Their abilities compliment each other very nicely.
They arrived on time, organized their supplies and wasted no time getting started. When they came to give me the bid, I had given them the colors and numbers for the paint used by the prior painter who had obviously mislabeled the cans, among his many other shortcomings. Being the professional Floyd proved to be, he put a small sample of the paint on the ceiling. He noticed the shade of white was different than the one on my crown molding and wainscoting, he cheerfully volunteered to go exchange the paint for the correct color. I decided the difference worked ok together, not thinking about the cut in painting that would require. Floyd accomplished that without flaw.
Not only did they do an exceptional job for the work we contracted for, but Floyd volunteered to reinstall my blinds and cornice boards (which had been removed by others) and did an excellent job at no additional cost to me. They also moved the furniture back to the right location. At the end of the first day, since they were returning the following day, I suggested they leave their supplies "as is" but they still tidied up their staging area and left my home in good order.
Upon completion, Jan did the first walk through and she has an excellent eye for detail. I was then encouraged to walk though myself to make sure nothing was missed. It was obvious they take well founded great pride in their work and sincerely want the customer to be happy with the results. I know there is always room for improvement, but I would be hard pressed to identify those areas with MD Painting.
I asked for, and received, estimates for two more projects I've needed for a long time but hesitated to do because of issues with not knowing trustworthy, qualified craftspeople to hire. A big "Thank You" to Angie's List also.
I simply could not be happier than I am with the services provided by MD Painting. I will contract with them do the other projects and recommend they highly.

I had a bathroom - newly refinished - that needed painting and I didn't feel like dealing with all the sanding and mess myself. (The remodel had been a real project from h*** but that's unrelated here! lol!)  I perused Angie's, list and based on description and ratings called several painters. I settled on MD Painting. I told him I had a small bathroom that needed to be "prepped, primed and painted" - "new walls and finish and I have the paint." After I described it he gave a preliminary estimate of $500 and said he had two men in the area today he would send over for a look and a final quote and it could maybe be done tomorrow.   Since he talked of being a painter for many years I assumed he knew what he was talking about.  He showed up himsef and did the quote and said he could do it today. I was anxious to be finished with this project so the timing was a plus.
He had only a few tools - said most were in the truck the other men had - should have been a warning.  He did not have a "rag" for mistakes or whatever and his drop cloth draping was questionable - I told him so and he moved it some. He  claimed he would not have any drips!   I came back from the other room a bit later and he had started with a primer he supplied as he did not like the one I had.  I asked why he had not done a light sanding to 'knock down' the blown in finish and he said the primer would handle it.  It was reallly too late to sand the walls and he claimed to be experienced so...
He started with the color on the walls - a bright green - and it was not covering the white primer. He started a second coat and I went to get more paint. When I returned he said something about how it was still not covering well and that he should have used a brown colored primer for this color of paint instead of the white.
Angie, he saw the paint I had before he started and he is supposedly a professional painter.
The woodwork around the door had been done in new wood - unsanded and in some places quite rough.  I would have sanded all of it and filled parts and re sanded before I put a primer - in other words the 'prep' part.  He just started with the primer.  I had to go back twice to tell him it needed sanding and in some places filling.
At this point I just let him finish - to his satisfaction.
As I said, this had been the remodel from h*** - started in April and ready to paint in October - really a small and not unusual bathroom!!!  I had no energy left to argue with him.  I pointed out several spots that he had missed and a couple of spots that were still rough, AND a few drips!. Some he fixed. others, well you can't sand wet paint.  I told him I was not happy but that he was done. I paid him and said good bye!
The next week I sanded down the entire bathroom - 'knock down' and woodwork, and painted two more coats of green and after filling, a coat of cream on the wood work.  It is beautiful now!  I could have saved $500 and a lot annoyance if I'd never called MD Painting. I was so frustrated it took me until now to write this review.
Do pay attention to what tools a work person brings to the project. Do ask a lot of questions.  Do not assume anyone has more knowledge than you - whether or not they need more knowledge than you to do the project ask detailed questions to try see if they are as experienced as they say. Do monitor all work - that is do 'be a b****' about any thing you have to mention more than once.  This is your project and you are paying for it.  Above all,  don't assume anything - especially don't assume anyone has 'common sense'.
Response from M D Painting
"I take great pride in customer satisfaction. If I had been notified of any issues with my work, I would have promptly addressed them. In regards to this particular Job, the customer fails to mention that I also painted her entry wall and hall way to the bathroom for no additional cost. She wanted the project to be completed right away which I accommodated and at the time she had no complaints."

M.D. Painting was recommended to us by North State Drywall.  We read their reviews on Angie's List and then contacted them.  They came out and gave us a bid, started on 10/1/12 and finished on 10/5/12, just as they said they would.
They did such a good job.  Very detail oriented, meticulous.   Protected the furniture and floors.  Cleaned up before leaving.  Very pleasant, easy to have in our home for five days.  Floyd, Jason and Cory really worked well together.  They did some repairs to our doors, and a couple of places on our kitchen wall.  We thought we would have to replace our interior doors before we decided to go with painting. They look great now!  Even our popcorn ceilings look good!   Everything looks fresher, cleaner.  I did not have to go behind them cleaning.
These guys are professionals, and it shows. we recommend them highly.  We have another job for them to do in the future.  It was a very good experience!

I simply could not be happier with the work that was done.   I had originally contracted only the interior, but I was so very happy with the work that I asked him to go ahead and do the exterior as well, and I was equally happy with that.
Cleanup was exemplary, too.

Floyd and his team did a very high quality job which included texturing several holes which had been repaired in the sheet rock.  I also asked him to paint the facia boards on the exterior of the home and touch up the front door. He repainted the entire front door and the gutters at no extra charge.   I was impressed with his follow-through, punctuality, and professionalism.  I would definitely use M.D. painting again.

I thought that they were very good in helping me with color selections. They were pretty careful about covering the furniture and making sure there was no mess. The clean-up was pretty good. They were quite expensive.

M.D. Painting is a husband and wife team who were highly recommended by the dry wall contractor I used earlier in the project.  They came during the sheet rock repair portion to provide an estimate which turned into a lengthy discussion of colors on various walls, etc.  Throughout this process both Floyd and his wife Jan were invaluable in providing insight into lighting and the various colors and how they would blend with adjoining areas. Floyd returned with samples which were applied to several areas so I could see the effect during both day and night.  This turned out to be a very good thing because I would have been unhappy with my 1st choice!

To say they are masters of their craft is an understatement!  I was amazed at how Floyd could cut in next to a beam 18ft above his head with no over marks. And where colors changed, his ability on a textured wall to cut a straight line is exceptional!  They rolled vs sprayed all walls and the ceilings, applied two different colors and two different sheens (flat for the ceilings and eggshell for the walls).  The spindles on the banisters and the trim were again done without any over marks or brush strokes.  With careful attention to the prep work: furniture moved and totally covered, hardwood floors and carpeting covered, edges taped, etc. there was little clean-up.

I couldn't recommend a better team and I certainly want perfection!. The job was completed in two days and the results are fabulous. They were punctual, professional,  very helpful and truly a pleasure to work with. I expect to be using Floyd and Jan to paint the outside trim and eaves of our 2 story home early next summer.
