Air conditioning stopped working on one of the hottest days of the year - that day just happened to be a Friday night. I had another contractor come out and he did minimal testing and then told me that the compressor was bad and he could not get it working on the weekend.
After he left I called a Connolly, a Carrier dealer since a blown compressor is a warranty issue and the unit is only 5 years old. I was hesitant to pay for another service call just to get bad news and he told me that he did was not convinced it was a bad compressor. He was very patient with me and seem to defuse my frustration of having a fairly new AC that was not working on a very hot day
His tech Danny was able to come early the next day and diagnose the issues with the unit and get it running again. Danny found that the capacitor installed by the toerh contractor was miswired the hot wires were crossed and that is what was tripping the breaker. Furthermore he checked the refrigerant levels and found that they were too high and that led to too much head pressure and caused the capacitor to blow on a hot day. Once he was able to correctly rewire the capacitor the unit began running again.
