They're very, very good.

Landscaping was okay but weekly workers informed us that the company buys plants in-bulk and recommends the same plants to all clients.
Soil was not properly prepared prior to landscaping so nothing ever grew.
Weeding never happened, within a few months, wild grass and weeds took over many large areas and all the expensive plants died. Over a four month period, gardeners never did a thing other than blame the owners for overbooking their work schedules and never authorizing them to do other than the basic simple maintenance. If we questioned why plants were dying, they always had an excuse and then would suggest that we get them to send a landscaper to bit on re-landscaping the property they had originally landscaped less than 18-months earlier.
They told us we were getting regular and on-going weekly gardening services which were sopposed to include various tasks (weeding, plant maintenance, checking irrigation system, general area clean up, etc.), but in the end all they ever did was cut the grass.
The gardeners told us near the end, that they were instructed to spend only 45-minutes on the property and do only that which they could do in that time. In most cases, that included pulling their gear off the truck and mowing two small lawn areas and some basic sweeping and hosing down of walk ways.
They werer supposed to check the irrigation systems regularly, but they did not and when a pipe broke, it caused one area of plants to die of over-watering and an adjacent area (connected by the pipe) of plants to die from lack of water for more than three months. They never noticed the that the area was flooding and or cared that the other area was dying. They only realized the pipe had broken when we brought it to their attention. Then it took them weeks to do anything about it because they didn't want to admit that they hadn't done their job and they wanted to get us to pay for the repair.
In the beginning customer service was great, but as our calls reporting problems increased and as they got tired of hearing from us, they became less and less responsive. Near the end, I was being hung-up on and calls were not being returned. When I finally got the owner on the phone, he confirmed that all of our complaints were reasonable (though he sounded at first like he was expecting us to have unreasonable demands and unrealistic expectations--which we did not) and he apologized for the poor customer service and rude behavior.
In the end, service only improved after the threat of legal action and the service waned once again as soon as they received our formal cancelation notice. We eventually got rid of them and had to spend an non-budgeted $5,000+ to repair all the damage they caused by their bad service.

For the most part we are happy . They give us a great price because we were introduced by a client of theirs who provides a lot of customers. So I'm not sure they can give such a great price to everyone (without going out of business). There are the occasional issues or communication problems. But for our price, it can't be beat.
Update 9/8/2011: We have just canceled our contract with this vendor. If we complain a lot, the owner steps in and service/responsiveness is good. But after a few months it goes back down in quality again. I think we are just not paying enough to get decent service... We're switching to a vendor we've used in the past who will only be $40 more per month. Here's hoping that goes well.

I had a monthly service contract with Double Green Landscapes for over 1-1/2 years. I just cancelled my monthly service contract out of frustration with Double Green Landscapes' contractors. That's the problem with this company: they CONTRACT the weekly/monthly service out to persons who are not nearly as committed as Isabel Moritz to customer service and satisfaction.
Side note: Isabel Moritz was/is an ANGEL. She tried really hard to make me a happy customer. Too bad Double Green's contractors undermined her.
Admittedly, my front and back yards are a challenge; the front yard is professionally landscaped with a mix of flower beds and grass. It can get weedy and overgrown if not carefully managed. The backyard is all weeds with my neighbors' ivy overgrowing my fence on three sides. My backyard is positively scary. I never go back there.
My only requirement of any gardening contractor is to maintain consistent care. Mow the lawn and weed the flower beds in the front yard; weed wack the backyard and trim the overgrown ivy. CONSISTENCY is the only way to maintain a semblance of care with my yard but Double Green Landscapes' contractors were consistently inconsistent. They'd arrive every other Wednesday as scheduled for six months then, all of a sudden, fail to show up, show up on different days, decide to arrive on a different day or, inexplicably, decide to change the lawn care schedule from every other Wednesday to two consecutive Thursdays. The last - and final - contractor decided to stop servicing my backyard altogether. Today my backyard is an overgrown mess and I'm on Angie's List - once again - looking for a gardening/lawn servicer who isn't lousy.

I dealt with Isabel and she was terrific; a terrific source of information and a terrific temple of understanding. I called because all the weeds in my backyard were overgrown and scary. So scary that I was too afraid to walk behind my house to turn my sprinkler system on after the rains. Double Green sent a gentleman to my house two (2) days after I called and he wrote up two (2) estimates: one for the initial clean-up and the second for monthly service. The estimate for the initial clean-up (cut down backyard weeds, refurbish frontyard flower beds, remove one bush, remove rotted fencing, remove a dead tree stump) came to $1,400. The monthly service fee for weekly service was $210. After mulling over the charges I called Isabel on Monday and told her that the clean-up fee was more than I was comfortable paying. After we discussed my concerns she spoke to her staff and sent a revised clean-up estimate of $1,050 for the work. SOLD! I faxed back my approval and the contractor showed up on Thursday. The work took over 5 hours! And it was BEAUTIFUL! Absolutely every thing that I wanted and more then I could have imagined. My flower beds look Spring-fresh and my backyard is less intimidating and scary. My contracted gardener's name is Victor Gonzalez and he did a magnificent job. I am very pleased with Double Green Landscape. I am also a new monthly-service customer. I'd be a fool to trust my landscaping and yard cleaning to anyone else.
