I hired him for a $40,000 Crestron home automation system for my house. He is disorganized, forgetful, and a poor communicator. I caught him in several lies throughout my project regarding his material costs.
He is slick and is will tell you want you want to hear but won't follow through. My project dragged out significantly longer than it should have and I ultimately had to fire him because he installed poor quality cameras in my house instead of the ones discussed at the beginning of the project. There were several times he came unprepared to my house.
He would forget parts, equipment, or didn't schedule others timely and have to come back over and over. He pressured me for more money up front than was reasonable and pressured me for payment on stuff before he completed it.
His project accounting and bills did not accurately reflect what was done. Toward the end of the project I told him I was disappointed that he installed poor cameras, that everything was taking too long, and that his project accounting did not make sense. After breaking my trust and about $4500 left to pay him, I told him I would not give him any more cash until everything was done.
I paid him timely for everything up to that point. Typically, you should hold back 10% of a contract as retainage to make sure everything is completed. After breaking my trust and explaining that to him, he assumed I wasn't going to pay him. and would not do anymore work until he got money up front. Bottom line is that Ivo is a small independent operator that doesn't make things right if he screws something up. When you are doing an elaborate system, you need to have 100% trust in who you work with. He can not be trusted.
