1. I rent.
2. I called the owners to get permission to set up the service and , then, subscribed to Angie's List.
3. Called Davy because he was first on the list. He needed direct contact with the owners.
4. The owners called, but Davy never called me back. When I called Davy, he said the owners never called. In contacting the owners, again, they strongly said they called him (one said he was there when the other gave permission to Davy to do the service - a distinct lie seems to have taken place).
5. Service never set up. Service never done. Davy is a service I'll never recommend or use in the future (including now).

Generally we were pleased with the work.  The only suggestion or problem was that they did not forward paperwork for the buliding inspector, so when he appeared at our door, we did not have the forms that he was to complete.

I had called a couple of differant places to get an est., and they were much more than we had to spend without getting a short term loan.I then called Chuck at Davys. They came out and gave me an est. that was half of what the othershad said for the same service.They did a great job and I can tell you that the air works great!!!!

I bought a home warranty for my house, and this past winter, when my furnace didn't produce heat, Davy's Heating was the company selected by the insurer.  (They had come for another problem once before, which I will describe in a minute.)  The first diagnosis was that the air filter needed changing.  As I had done that perhaps a month before, I disagreed.  The second diagnosis was that a substantial portion of the venting had to be replaced.  I had bought the house less than three years previously, and the prior owners reported that they had put in a new venting system within the year.  It was possible, I thought,  that Davy's call on the condition of the vents was correct but the cost of repair suggested that I should get another estimate.  In fact , I got two other estimates.  The problem turned out to be a kinked rubber tube, perhaps 5" long.   Once replaced, the furnace has behaved exactly as it should. That service provider said the venting was fine.
Perhaps a year earlier, the dryer vent didn't seem to be venting the lint from the dryer.  I had the same home warranty and again Davy's was the service sent in response to my call.  Apparently the line from the dryer to the exterior vent runs under the foundation slab.  The service man, 'Chuck", said he ran a plumber's snake through the vent, and ran into an obstruction. He speculated that the line itself had collapsed under the slab and proposed running a new vent vertically through a cabinet and then the roof.  Again, I thought a second opinion was warranted, but I meanwhile asked Davy's to provide an estimate.  He never did.    One of the alternate vendors suggested over the phone that an interim choice was to use a water trap (available at Home Depot) to capture the lint.  That too has worked fine and cost about $5, and took perhaps 15 minutes to install myself.  I still don't know if Davy's assessment of the problem is accurate, and he never followed up. As both of Davy's calls required a basic service fee under the home warranty, the cost was  small ($55 each time as I recall).  Each time, getting an appointment set required more than one call although they were prompt when they finally settled on a time. The professionalism was best summed up by inferring that any problem was the result  of (a) my foolishness in not replacing a filter and (b) damning of other service providers/builders.
As a result of the experience I cancelled the home warranty. I figured out (duh) they used the lowest bidder, regardless of competence, and the insurer had no interest in assuring quality.  When I placed the call on the furnace, I specifically requested that Davy's NOT be used, but sure enough, that was the vendor dispatched.

He comes out twice a year for the preventative maintenance. He is really prompt and very thorough. We had to have some repairs done a couple of years ago to some ductwork and his prices were great and he did a good job. We’ve been using him for 5 years.

I called and the man soon came to check it out, then left to obtain the needed equipment. He returned earlier than anticipated (the same day) and replaced the valve and, without being asked, repaired thermostat wires as well (no extra charge). The only thing that gave me pause, was that he tried to sell me on a new heater (mine is old, but he didn't suggest any reason that I would need a new one.)

Our heater failed to start Tuesday morning during the first week of snow here in Forest Ranch. We were worried that we wouldn't get this fixed until after Thanksgiving. I selected Davy's Heating and Air from Angie's list. I called on Tuesday morning and talked with Chuck. He said he was available to check out the issue first thing the next morning. Chuck arrived right on time and had the issue diagnosed within minutes, we had a worn blower motor. He said the motor would probably need to be ordered and he would return probably Friday after Thanksgiving. We got a call from Chuck later in the day and said he could have the motor sent by courier for a charge, and we agreed. Once again he was going to come up Friday first thing. Well, it was about 7:00 pm the same day and we got a call from Chuck saying the motor came in and wanted to run up and install it right away. He did and had our heater going that night, the wife was very happy. To sum it up, Chuck is what good service is all about. Not to mention very friendly and easy to work with. We highly recommend Davy's Heating & Air and Chuck!

Last summer, our rather old air conditioning unit went out right in the middle of summer. Back then, the company that came out to repair it took 3 weeks to get it going. I had no choice as to the company because that is who the home warranty company decided to use. With 2 kids in the house, and the temperatures exceeding well over 100 those weeks, it was miserable during the down time. When it went out again this year, again in the middle of the peek summer temperatures, I was really not looking forward to more weeks of no A/C. However, this time, Davy?s Heating and Air Conditioning in Chico came out. Chuck Crossland called me directly from another job site which happened to be right down the street. He came over to take a look. After about 20 minutes, he identified the problem being with a part that was put in by the other company from last year?s fix causing the problem. He was able to put in the right part within half an hour and the a/c unit was fine after that. In total, one hour of down time to full service. I felt Chuck represented Davy?s Heating and Air Conditioning phenomenally. The gentleman was very down to earth, told me exactly what was going on, what happened, and what to look for in terms of preventative maintenance. His quick response during the peek summer season was very much appreciated. Excellent is all I can say.
