I called on Sunday night and left a message. He called back on Monday morning, we made an appointment in the afternoon, he came at the appointed time, he said he thought he knew the source of the water and had to dissasemble the freezer compartment. He had to unload the freezer and had to take the shelves out in order to get to the defrosting unit behind the freezer compartment. He confirmed the problem by pouring water into the defrosting tray and watched in drain into the freezer unit. He repositioned the tray, punched holes in the tray and reassembled the unit. He put the shelves back in and reloaded the freezer and cleaned up. It took a lot of labor, but he had the right tools and effieciently got the job done.

I called Norway at 9:30 AM and left a message that my dryer was making a funny noise. John Aiken returned my call about 30 minutes later. He said he had two jobs ahead of mine and could come look at the dryer at noon. He said he would call before coming because his two jobs might take more or less time then he estimated. John called at 11:15 AM and said he would be there at 12:15. He arrived at 12:10. After introductions, he listed to the dryer and said, "It is the blower." Let me check if I have one in my truck. 2 minutes later he came in the house with a new blower and said it would be $120. to confirm the problem, clean out the appliance and install the blower. I agreed. John took the front panel off in a matter of seconds; I would have laid the dryer on its back to gain access. He reach in and spun the blower and said, "See, it is loose on the shaft. Must be replaced." John vacuumed out the inside of the drawer and vent, he installed the fan and buttoned it up. He tested it. I wrote John a check and he packed up and left. John was very knowledgeable. He dignosed the problem by listening. He had the right tools so he could take the dryer apart immediately. He had the part that was bad. And all this time he provided a wealth of information on who made the best dryers, washing machines, refrigerators, etc. He knew the history of each of the companies. He knew who made the appliances for every brand. John was not only good at his work, but very good. He said he liked his job; been doing it for dozens of years. Although I gave him perfect ratings on all the items Angie's uses, even more important, he is a pleasure to deal with!

One day I found the display panel on my built-in double wall oven had gone dark. After researching here and elsewhere I decided to call Norway Appliance. It's a one-man shop, and he's VERY busy, so it was hard to get an appointment. Finally he came and quickly diagnosed the problem. After that it was just waiting for the part to arrive, and another short appointment to replace a failed circuit board. All in all it was painless, he did a good job, and charged less than a lot of folks had indicated online. I'm happy.

John Aiken was early, professional, fast and surprisingly inexpensive. $35 for the service call and $10 to fix the problem. Even fixed the seal on my refrigerator while waiting for the dishwasher to cycle through to make sure it was fixed. Offered to work on anything else while he waited for the dishwasher to cycle. Offered advice on dishwasher detergent, use of the dishwasher, and the electric starter on my gas stove. Very personable, obviously enjoys his work and enjoys helping people. The experience having him fix the dishwasher was a very positive experience contrary to my experience with most repair people. Will recommend him to all my friends.

I HAVE USED JOHN FOR OVER 20 YEARS. HE ALWAYS CALLS ME BACK RIGHT AWAY WHEN I NEED HELP. HE IS HONEST and I FEEL HE ALWAYS TELLS ME WHEN I SHOULD JUST GET A NEW APPLIANCE, RATHER THAN HAVING HIM FIX THE OLD ONES.

This company did a good job for us. I am very pleased with this company. They are a small company and they take a lot of pride in their pride in their work. He knows what he is doing. I am afraid by letting everyone know how good he is, as he might get too busy for me.
