Property Management, Real Estate Service
We hired Jean Paul to manage our four unit building for $450 a month which is high by any standards, but we were willing to pay for high quality and comprehensive management. We provided them with all of our records and were told that all of our vendors had been notified. After about two months our vendors began to contact us for non-payment. When we reached out to Jean Paul he assured us that all of our vendors had been notified, but when we contacted them, it turned out that NONE of them had been notified. So, for two months he had collected $450 a month and done absolutely nothing apart from deposit our monthly dues/assessment. He became very defensive, verbally abusive and rude when this was brought to his attention. Due to the fact that we were exceeding our 60 day period during which we could opt out of our contract with 30 day notice and entering into a period during which we would have to stay in our contract for a year, we requested that he extend the "trial period" so that we could be sure that they would actually contact the vendors and pay our bills. Jean Paul became enraged and quit on the spot. He then proceeded to stop all services--not that he was providing any but he even returned our monthly dues. He refused to provide us with our records and kept over $2000 of the HOA's monies with no explanation other than he was charging us for an additional two months. It looks like we will now have to take him to small claims to get our money back.
So, avoid at all costs. This is the worst experience I have ever had with a property management company and I've owned several condos and know that there are plenty of less than reliable ones out there. But to outright keep over $2000 of our association's money is nothing less than common thievery.
