TOP CONSTRUCTION

I reported them to the contracting board. I was told they operate without a license. I was going to have some work done, I wrote a check for 400 dollars, gave it to the guy and they were soaking me for like 40,000 dollars. They came and said you guys need a new roof, he went up there and tore half of my roof off. So I told the guy to get off my property and told them I was going to call the police. He left and came back the next morning and knocked at my door. This time I called the police and they came and told him to get off my property. I got my check back. They are bad people. They prey on older people and charge them and arm and a leg. They were fined 5000 dollars and were told that people who work for them have to be licensed.

Work done by usually one or at times 2 men  one of which was not  fluent in English.  They promised Benjamin Moore paint and used Glidden.  Said they painted the front area of wood but had to be shown they did not.  No tarps used until I complained.  This is a high 2 story aptment building.  The electic box was done nicely but not painte on the inside.  I was promised plastic doors and received pressboard. I was  harrassed to quickly sign the credit paper so they could get paid, but they are NOT quick to fix anything.
 After 5 months the paint has started to crack.  After many calls I had someone out to do some repairs,  They were due back in a day or two and even after another call, no one has shown up.  I am writing a letter and will contact them with my disgust.  Since i had hand surgery I have been slow on follow thru.  If things are not fixed I will contact the licensin Board.

I reported them to the construction board. They will be looking into Top Construction?s business. What they do is they take senior citizens of which I am one. Instead of doing construction on my home they did destruction on my home. The contracting board is looking into fraud. They were willing to take me to a bank so that I could get reverse mortgage on my home. I thought they would have somebody that they knew. They do various adverse things to seniors. They have a good rating from Better Business Bureau, which I do not understand because they do a lot of fraud. When they got through with me they had charged me $60,000. I gave them a check for $400. I then called the bank and stopped paying them on that check. They came the next day not letting me know whether or not I qualified for any loans. They then started tearing up my house. It was also raining back then here in California. They told me not to worry and that they knew what they were doing. They told me that they would treat me like family. They also had laborers that they had picked from another provider. They talked a lot and didn't let us think. They were just like car salesmen.

A few weeks ago I decided to remodel my bedroom. Along the edge of the carpet I see that they have cut marks and they had purposefully hid those pieces behind heavy furniture. They came back out to do a repair and did an awful job and it looks like it is patched. I told them they would have to do a better job and they said that it?s the best they are going to do.

Original contract 7/23/07. Work done sporadically over time. One thing led to another (drain lines not foreseen; problems with pool not foreseen). Cement around pool needed to be replaced (unforeseen). Pool drained several months ago; now contains much filthy water and has been health hazard. Owner badgered into agreeing to construct unaffordable pool house in early November (not begun). Project increased in cost meantime. Owner does not desire huge financial encumbrance of pool house. No work has been done on project for last two months (at least). Company now desires to finish job.
