Mr. Huber is always very professional. He replaced the existing cook top with the new one. He purchased and installed a new gas line and replace all of the ceiling diffusers in the kitchen with new ones. The cooktop was not an absolute perfect fit,so Mr. Huber had to do some caulking around the edges. It is not even detectable. We are very happy with the work. We have hired him several times and we have always been very happy. At first glance, it appears that his rates are high, however, our experience has been that the work is done on time, it is done right the first and only time. Mr. Huber is meticulous and professional and we trust him...that is worth money!

After purchasing a large welded wire kennel almost 3 mos ago, I had trouble finding someone who would come out to set it up.  Either the job was too small or they were booked for months.  I contacted Swiss Handyman and Arnold said he would come out and do the job.  He is very responsive to email communication and able to set an appointment within a very short time.

I had a 7' tall kennel set up but due to the unevenness of the lawn, they had to figure out a way to adjust the normal installation.  A lock was installed on the kennel.  The patio door was not closing without slamming and it was temporarily fixed until I can get a whole new lock.  One of the dog doors, a wall unit,  was not functioning properly due to the manufacturer not including the correct screws for that installation.   Arnold was able to use some toggle bolts and get the frame secured.  I also had a dryer hose that needed to be replaced so he moved the dryer out and put that on for me.

They pay attention to the details and make sure it is done right.  I am very happy (and my dogs too) with the kennel and all the work done in approx. 5 hrs.

Arnold did an excellent job of removing two poles from the backyard. He was prompt and on time. I would use the Swiss Handyman again for a future project.

After my wife and I bought a new home, we needed help installing and repairing a few items which we had been unable to do ourselves. We are very satisfied with the work he did for us and he even did it for less than the estimate.

"Thank you very much for your very positive review. However, we at Swiss Handyman do not show having ever done any work for you and we would like the correct handyman company to get this positive credit for their work. Therefore, if you would be so kind and clarify this with Angie's List directly since we do not have any access to change the reviews."

This gentleman is lovely and likes to talk a lot! He is also very bright and does good work. The problem is that he works VERY slowly and wanted to talk to me. Then he charged me for all the time we talked! After 2 days, he had installed the TV, fixed one door, installed one lighting fixture and cut  (not installed) the base moulding. For this I was charged $1,350...Yes, that is One thousand three hundred fifty dollars....I bought all of the supplies and that is after the Angies list discount!!!!

"Dear Customer, We understand the frustration of these jobs. They look simple enough on paper. We tackled the first job of hooking up the new TV to Direct TV. Because you had insisted that the TV outlet had worked before, it took quite some time of troubleshooting to no result, and that’s when we suggested to contact Direct TV. Then we found out that the reportedly working TV outlet was actually not connected to Direct TV and needed an additional Direct TV box to connect to the new TV. Yes, there was a lot of talk back and forth on this job. And the implication of “all the materials were there” is not quite correct and added significant time to the “simple task of connecting up a new TV to Direct TV”. The other very time consuming and frustrating task was to install a surround sound system for the TV. Yes, the parts were there, but they were not compatible with the existing wiring. It took some time, and a lot of talk, to sort this out with the husband who was not at home at the time, and finally got sorted out after he did come home. Yes, time consuming and a lot of job related talk. As to the 3 ft baseboards, again this sounds so simple and a seemingly very fast job. Omitted is the fact that the baseboard had been installed faulty in the first place and ended at an intricate fireplace mantle that needed precision custom cutting. To properly repair the 3 ft piece of baseboard we actually replaced a full 15 ft and an additional 5 ft piece that met in a corner of the room, since they would not have matched up otherwise. All the dry fitting was done by us including the correction of the faulty baseboard installation. As a note, any time we do talk with customers on non-job related topics we do NOT charge for the time (of course). Sincerely, Arnold Huber, Swiss Handyman"

Arnold is a nice enough guy but we were very unhappy with the work he did. We had a leaking sun roof and asked him to take a look and apply a new sealant around the glass. He recommended scraping off all the old sealant and applying a new layer and quoted us at $1300.  Not only did it cost more than this, the very next day the sun roof was still leaking in several places. He stated he could not guarantee his work (after he charged us and completed the work) and blamed the leaks on faulty design. He did assist us in putting a tarp over the roof but when our roofer suggested that more sealant be applied, he stated that he didn't agree with this. We will have to pay someone else to redo this work.
Also with the other job we were disappointed as well because he splintered our vintage redwood. Had he drilled from the outside to inside this could have been avoided.
Arnold charged $95 an hour and he works slow. After talking with some neighbors, this seems like an exorbitant fee, considering the lack of quality.

The Handyman, Arnold Huber, was fantastic. He was on time, efficient, and extremely knowledgeable and did the work very well. He had to hang a large painting, and he did so perfectly. He even added an earthquake proof hook, so he did a very good job. He just went through and knew exactly what to do, clearly he is a very expert and experienced contractor. I will most definitely use Swiss Handyman again, and I certainly hope I get Arnold.

Every time I had jobs done, they sent someone different.   Some guys were good while others had to google how to do everything along the way and ended taking a very long time to do crappy work.
I found another handyman and was happy until he retired recently (sob...).    Looking for a handyman I thought I would give Arnold's outsourced handyman another shot and emailed via Angie's List.   They took a while to get back to me telling me to email them directly to get rates.   Weird, but okay ... emailed and never heard back.    So not much has changed.
Response from Swiss Handyman
"We’re sorry to hear that you had trouble with a handyman company in 2014. That company was not Swiss Handyman. We never did any drywall repairs for you and the only time we have worked for you was in February of 2012. It appears that you have us mixed up with someone else. You recently emailed us through Angie’s List on 17 January 2015 and we responded within 24 hours also through Angie’s List on 18 January. We asked you to send your email to us directly (it is easier to send email through our contact management program) so we could send you our rates as a refresher. We did not hear back from you until 23 January when you left us a voice message and said you sent several emails through Angie’s List (we only received the one mentioned) but had not gotten a response. We responded to your voice message that same day but did not hear back from you. We know it’s hard when you have someone you like to work with and then they retire and we sincerely hope that you find someone who you will feel the same about again."

To do this work right, I really needed someone who would tolerate a high degree of attention to detail.  I had had another electrician install a light fixture, which he (the other guy) did without reference to the vanity cabinet beneath it.  I wanted someone who would work with me to get the vanity cabinet, the mirror and the light fixture into harmony.  I also wanted to remove some door hinges that had been carelessly painted over and replace them with something attractive.  I was looking for someone who would support me in these details, work with me to really get it right.  Arnold provided that and more.  In each case he listened carefully to what I wanted (it helps to think it through and write it down--that's something I learned along the way).  Then he approached the work exactly as I wanted him to, pointing things out in a helpful way, and taking care to show me how he had solved each problem according to my guidelines.  We are fussy about the house, and we really pleased to find someone who would accept that rather than cut corners or make assumptions.  When there was a part of the job for which someone else was better suited, he brought that person in.  I would not hesitate to recommend him, and will definitely use him in the future.  He's a gem.

Top flight workmanship by a top shelf handyman. Everything you would expect from a Swiss tradesman. If you want cheap or fast look elsewhere; if you want work done carefully and thoughtfully, he's your man. Very knowledgeable and capable and well worth the money. In short, not your average handyman.
