I would gladly use SPITz again and I have repeatedly recommended this company to my neighbors and friends.
This company ripped one chair and elected to keep going until they finished cleaning all 6 chairs. Their response? We're done!" with no mention of the damage. Since advising them of the issue, they offered $350.00 as a random, self-designated "replacement cost value" of the custom chairs. The next day, I contracted a reputable reupholstery company and PAID 1149. to have the chair fixed immediately (after taking video and photos of the damage). Mike refuses to pay anything above $350.00 and told me to "Take them to small claims court). Which of course in LA he hasn't shown up. Our next court date is December 31st at 10:30. We will see if he shows then.
My biggest reason for even pursuing this (as clearly he needs the money) is:
- SPITz carpet cleaners would damage chairs and try to leave without mentioning the rips. Then they tell the BBB that we are EXTORTIONISTS and ripped the chairs ourselves. He knows good and well he was IN THE HOUSE and saw the rips himself, and said "His assistant must be stupid to rip one chair after another" I am contacting another attorney for libel.
- He offered a random replacement value, when the chairs don't need to be replaced but REPAIRED
- He tried to blame the problem on the age of the fabric. Once he realized that claim wouldn't hold (based upon the restoration companies evaluation), he is now changing the entire story to read that he didn't rip the chairs to begin with.
One final note - Mike told me he didn't rip the backs of the chairs because he didn't clean the backs of the chairs because the backs of the chairs weren't dirty. I'll let the reader decide if cleaning one side of a piece of furniture is appropriate?
Mike is ceratinly nice and friendly, and he "Throws in" alot of free work. However, if you have complaint, he will tell you (in his very friendly way) to "take him to court" and wish you a "pleasant day" and NEVER SHOW UP TO COURT.
