David was outstanding/ When I first contacted him, he asked many questions - trying to determine what was wrong with my machine. He even asked me send a video of the cycle shift, then more phone support. Before coming to the house, to save a house call, David explained the cost to buy a new machine, the DWP $300 rebate, and even recommending the best, least expensive new machine qualifying, I still wanted to get the machine working, if possible. When David came to the house, he replaced the drain mechanism and 4 days later, brought a new motor. My Grand Dame washing machine is as-good-as-NEW and clothes are clean clean clean. David represents the best service professional Angie's list can offer. He is great!

Our Samsung washer had an issue. The error code indicated that the "thermister" had failed. I spoke with David who was clearly knowledgeable about the problem. We made an appointment which was kept on time and he did not disappoint. Our machine was repaired in short order and working as it should. David is a professional and worth more than what he charges. Thank you, Carol

After missing several appointments David finally installed the replacement computer board in my washing machine.. Shortly thereafter the ON button sank into the panel making it difficult to push, and the clear plastic piece that covered the "estimated time remaining" light sank behind the front of the panel. Then the machine stopped working. After calling and texting him several times, he finally texted back that he would come the following Wednesday. He did not show up or reply to my subsequent calls or texts. At this point I gave up trying to reach him and called Absolute Appliances Repair service instead.

David Rothman, Pauls Washer & Dryer Service was unreliable and not competent to handle this very simple job.

Response from Paul’s Washer & Dryer Service
"As a business owner I always appreciate feedback. However, I do not appreciate discrediting my business. What is most unfortunate about this review is not only the poor score but how far I went to make the machine work for the customer. What is missing from the review is the two-previous times I serviced the washer without a flaw, which no review was written. I went against my own best judgement installing a used part that was purchased by the customer on E-bay. Prior to the repair I made it very clear in no way could I warranty the part and it reliability or it fit. The part did not fit right from the start, being a good guy I knew the repair would not hold, which was communicated to the customer. The price of $50.00 reflects over 50% discount on my labor charge, knowing the washer would have to be replaced. I felt that the customer was making a an effort to take advantage of my previous good gestures calling me numerous times to have me make a "repair," on something which had no warranty. It is most unfortunate that all the positive work that was done is not reflected only the customers frustration being placed on me that the part which I shared from start could not and would not be warranted. failed. This type of experience as is summarized in the expression,"no good deed goes unpunished.""

Had tough time finding someone to come look at the machine, David was 4th company/service I tried and with all the no-shows and disappointments was really just broken down.  We spoke over the phone and he explained what he thought it could be, but would not be sure till he checked it out.  Didn't want to charge me a service call if ended up having to get a new machine - but I asked if he would come look and that I didn't mind service call charge.  David examined the machine and fixed it, tested it and was done in less than an hour!  You have no idea what a relief it was and after such a bad experience prior to this savior working a holiday miracle - had almost given up all hope. Thank you David - you are a life saver!

I would highly recommend David! He was quick to return my call and schedule a visit. Upon inspection he discovered that the problem was a broken switch that allows the washer to enter the spin/drain cycle. He also safely installed our dryer. Great and prompt service!

This is not the Large Appliance Repair shop you want to call if you're looking for a company that answers their phone at all times, or has various uniformed technicians driving up in company branded trucks,  However, if you're seeking a specialist in washers and dryers who knows what he's doing, has integrity, is highly skilled in diagnostics and repair, and will give you an excellent rate, then you want to call David Rothman of Paul's Washer & Dryer Service.  Our ten year old washing machine suddenly stopped spinning and agitating so I called and left a message. David called back and he did a preliminary diagnostic on the phone. We discussed the merits of repair vs. replacement, and a forecasted cost of repair. David showed up within the agreed upon time window, confirmed that what was wrong with the washer was what he thought, and fixed the washer for the price he had quoted. No up sale. No Maintenance Agreement pitch. Just good work. And he didn't once ask for or solicit my writing a positive review for him here as, I'm sure many of you can relate to, many Angie's List vendors do.

I cannot say enough good things about David.  I called him when my washing machine broke, and he diagnosed the problem and gave me advice on buying a new machine over the phone.  He was incredibly generous and patient.  I don't know how he stays in business giving out free advice like that!!

Great! David was prompt and courteous. He listened to me describe the problem, then talked about the things that could be wrong. He tested the machine and it seemed to be in ok order. Then he gave a lot of helpful advice on how to extend the life of my washer.

It took about 40 minutes. They do a real good job. They are very reasonable. We have been hiring them for about 4 years. We love them to death! I would most certainly hire them again.

The repair person was very professional, knowledgeable, and appropriately friendly. He diagnosed the problem right away and worked diligently. Price was very reasonable. This is a hard-working guy who seemed honest and reliable. Showed up within the time window he had provided. Would definitely use them again.

The dryer took an inordinately long time to dry clothes sufficiently.  The technician checked everything and verified that there was no problem with the dryer controls.  He discovered that the vent line was plugged.  He was able to clean the existing tube and re-position it so that it worked again.  He pointed out that the vent line had been squeezed through a small opening in the foundation, partially collapsing it, and there was simply not enough room for a proper vent line.  He suggested that a new, vertical vent be installed, to vent at the roof.  He explained that he was not able to do that work but he did give me a referral to a venting contractor.  His fix was understood to be temporary.

"Thank you for the feedback. The review does not include the amount of to time involved and a part was changed. A VERY LARGE DISCOUNT was provide over 50% off due to the cost the would be incurred to repair the machine properly."

Well it didn't surprise me that the washing machine "tape fix" did not last more than a week.  What really surprised me was that David has not returned over 10 calls that I have made to him and his various phone numbers.  He took $170 for two repairs and has made no effort to return my call in which I asked him to please give me any time in the future that might work for him to come and review the repair.  NO RETURN CALL AFTER MANY ATTEMPTS. I have seen his yelp reviews (too late, unfortunately) where there are multiple complaints about his no call or no show and he has responded to these complaints that he always returns his calls.  No he does not.
I am not upset that the repair did not take.  These little things happen.  But I object to him taking money and having no accountability.  It's unethical and it's very bad business.  I will share with my neighbors.
Response from Paul’s Washer & Dryer Service
"We appreciate all feedback, it is most unfortunate that we were not able to meet your needs, the work which we charged for the door switch is still working, we made an effort for free to make a minor repair to the washer. Again done for free the work done on the washer was simply to be of service to you. Within short order we had numerous, numerous, messages which were not at all pleasant and demanding. The work was done promptly, for an excellent rate, and continues to work, the adjustment in an effort to save you money, which again was done for free, did not hold. We always, always, guarantee our work. As our 90-plus reviews reflect. We simply can not cover what is not charged for nor be harassed by numerous demanding voice-mails, nor threats of bad reviews which you have posted on numerous websites."

I told Dave that I'd tried to do a load with water and bleach to get rid of the smell, to no avail (I had an additional problem in that my washer has an automatic sensor which tells it how much to fill the tub and no "clean washer" cycle, so when you try to run it empty it barely fills).  Dave had a work around for that!  First, he told me to fill it as far as it would go, then use buckets of water to fill it near the top rim, then he said don't use bleach - use vinegar!   (He said I may have to repeat the process a few times).  Well, I followed his instructions, and lo and behold on the first cycle, all this grungy stuff came out from behind the tub and into the tub and washed away in the rinse cycle!  I am going to have to do it at least once more, but the smell is vastly improved already - almost gone, in fact!    Now, Dave could have come to the house, charged me a service call and told me he couldn't fix it because he couldn't get in there to take it apart, or he could have taken it apart and charged me hundreds of dollars, but he didn't - he gave me a cheap and relatively simple fix I could do myself, and made suggestions for using a different brand of detergent to prevent the build-up of old soap and smelly bacteria in the future.    The next time I need an appliance repaired, I will be calling Paul's - I've really never come across a repair service so honest and helpful in all my years owning a home.   I'm totally impressed and won over!!!!!
