David Rothman, Pauls Washer & Dryer Service was unreliable and not competent to handle this very simple job.
"As a business owner I always appreciate feedback. However, I do not appreciate discrediting my business. What is most unfortunate about this review is not only the poor score but how far I went to make the machine work for the customer. What is missing from the review is the two-previous times I serviced the washer without a flaw, which no review was written. I went against my own best judgement installing a used part that was purchased by the customer on E-bay. Prior to the repair I made it very clear in no way could I warranty the part and it reliability or it fit. The part did not fit right from the start, being a good guy I knew the repair would not hold, which was communicated to the customer. The price of $50.00 reflects over 50% discount on my labor charge, knowing the washer would have to be replaced. I felt that the customer was making a an effort to take advantage of my previous good gestures calling me numerous times to have me make a "repair," on something which had no warranty. It is most unfortunate that all the positive work that was done is not reflected only the customers frustration being placed on me that the part which I shared from start could not and would not be warranted. failed. This type of experience as is summarized in the expression,"no good deed goes unpunished.""
This is not the Large Appliance Repair shop you want to call if you're looking for a company that answers their phone at all times, or has various uniformed technicians driving up in company branded trucks, However, if you're seeking a specialist in washers and dryers who knows what he's doing, has integrity, is highly skilled in diagnostics and repair, and will give you an excellent rate, then you want to call David Rothman of Paul's Washer & Dryer Service. Our ten year old washing machine suddenly stopped spinning and agitating so I called and left a message. David called back and he did a preliminary diagnostic on the phone. We discussed the merits of repair vs. replacement, and a forecasted cost of repair. David showed up within the agreed upon time window, confirmed that what was wrong with the washer was what he thought, and fixed the washer for the price he had quoted. No up sale. No Maintenance Agreement pitch. Just good work. And he didn't once ask for or solicit my writing a positive review for him here as, I'm sure many of you can relate to, many Angie's List vendors do.
"Thank you for the feedback. The review does not include the amount of to time involved and a part was changed. A VERY LARGE DISCOUNT was provide over 50% off due to the cost the would be incurred to repair the machine properly."
I am not upset that the repair did not take. These little things happen. But I object to him taking money and having no accountability. It's unethical and it's very bad business. I will share with my neighbors.
"We appreciate all feedback, it is most unfortunate that we were not able to meet your needs, the work which we charged for the door switch is still working, we made an effort for free to make a minor repair to the washer. Again done for free the work done on the washer was simply to be of service to you. Within short order we had numerous, numerous, messages which were not at all pleasant and demanding. The work was done promptly, for an excellent rate, and continues to work, the adjustment in an effort to save you money, which again was done for free, did not hold. We always, always, guarantee our work. As our 90-plus reviews reflect. We simply can not cover what is not charged for nor be harassed by numerous demanding voice-mails, nor threats of bad reviews which you have posted on numerous websites."
