Paul's Transmissions

My transmission finally crapped out on my 2000 Mazda 626 and I checked with a few garages about estimates. Most were in the range of $1800-$2000 that included purchasing a used transmission from a junkyard with no guarantee of it being in good condition. A friend found this shop for me and when I spoke to Mike on the phone his estimate was roughly the same but included completely re-building the existing transmission from top to bottom and a one year warranty on the re-built transmission. The work was done quickly enough (about 4 days) and the additional cost was for the replacement of the broken motor mounts. They had to remove the mounts while working on the transmission so I was only charged for the parts. Since I had already known the mounts were bad it was not a surprise to me and the costs of the new mounts were in line with previous estimates I had received. Everyone I spoke with on the phone was professional and friendly. I did have to bring the car back after two weeks for a follow-up to validate the warranty. I considered this to be a sign of craftsmanship, double-checking one's work before guaranteeing it.
