MYZZER

We bought a house that had been vacant for some time and had developed a major rat infestation. I needed to get an exterminator in there ASAP so we could move in. After the initial inspection, I was told by Meizzer that someone would call to give me my estimate. I didn't hear from them, but that didn't surprise me because I had to do the following-up with the two other companies I contacted as well. It took several days, but after I finally reached someone. I was told my phone number had been recorded incorrectly and that was why they couldn't call me. OK, no problem. Meizzer was the highest rate that came back, but not unreasonably so. I chose them because they did the most thorough inspection and seemed to have a comprehensive plan for fixing the problem indefinitely. Included in the rate were at least two initial follow up visits and as many as it took after that if the problem still persisted. After making the decision, I attempted to get in touch with my Meizzer contact rep to make an appointment. He was nearly impossible to get on the phone, but after a week I managed to make an appointment. He arrived for the appointment on time and installed traps in the attic. Part of the estimate detailed that we would need to have two screens made to block entry points where the rats were entering the house. He told me they would have to be made off site and he would come back to install them, as well as the rat slick that would keep them from climbing the palm tree to get to the roof. I assumed they would be screens similar to what was already covering most of the access points and agreed. He also said he would call in two weeks to schedule a follow-up appointment, where they remove anything caught and reset the traps. He came back at some point when I wasn't home and installed the "screens" outside, which turned out to be pieces of plywood cut to fit over the hole. I could have done that, and for significantly less than $75 each. He also forgot to install the rat slick on the palm tree. Two weeks came and went with no phone call to schedule the follow up, so I again tried to get in touch with him. Again, it took over a week and several calls to get him on the phone. An appointment was made, he came and removed several dead rats and installed the rat slick. Again, he told me he would call in a month to schedule the second follow-up. Realizing the odds of that happening were slim, I tried to get him to just make the appointment right then and there, but he said no, he would call. He never called. I half-heartedly attempted to get in touch with him again, but only once, so of course I never reached him. We haven't seen or heard any evidence of rats, so overall Meizzer took care of the problem. I probably have little rat skeletons in the traps in my attic, but to me it is not worth the effort of trying to get him out here again to take them away.
