I'm a bit conflicted about this company. I went with their company because I was already looking into the prices of getting my water heater replaced, and I came upon their web page, which advertised a special of $799 for either a Rheem or Brandford White water heater installed. Thought that was a good price, and their reviews online were decent, so I decided to call and ask about the special. The guy on the phone, Fred, was like an used car salesman. He would use any excuse to make a sale with you. I was already pretty sure I wanted the deal, but I had to make sure there wasn't going to be any extra hidden charges. He assured me there wasn't, and proceeded to ask me how soon he can schedule me. He said that they had installed like 30 of them this month and he wasn't sure that the special was going to last long, so he wanted to schedule me for the day of. I was like, "um, I'm pretty sure it's going to be ok if I schedule it for tomorrow or later this week. I'm ok with that." But he kept up his pressure tactics. Luckily, I had time in the afternoon and thought, what the heck. So the technicians came out, on time, and did their work in a timely manner. I was happy with the install. During the install, I asked them if they'd done a lot of these specials lately? They were like "we haven't really. I mean, we just got a brand new shipment of heaters this morning." Aha, dear Fred, you are caught in a big white lie. But of no consequence, just makes me distrust you more. A few hours after they left, I went to take a look at the heater to make sure everything was ok--there was slight leak at the supply connections. It's just a slight drip, and I understand that happens, so I call them some time after 5pm to ask Fred if they can send someone in the morning to tighten the connection. He was accomodating. So the next morning, Fred calls me to say he's sending someone, but they can't accept the credit card payment that I had given the technician. They want to get a check from me, because his excuse was, they could accept credit cards only if they swipe it (uhh...pretty sure you can enter my card info and the security code and still be able to charge me, that's how I order take-out). I jump on my computer, go on their website, and I go "hey Fred, I'm on your website and it says that you guys accept credit cards." He goes "well, we accept it if you come into the store to buy things." I know he's lying, but I didn't feel like arguing, so I agree to pay by check. So the technician comes out, and is super cool, and he tells me while we're chatting that he got yelled at about the credit card payment by their secretary. Apparently, the whole issue was that their company didn't want to pay credit card companies the extra 5% fee, so they can make more if they get the money from the customer directly. This makes sense. I get that you want to maximize as much revenue as you can take in--but I would have appreciated it if you just told me. Just tell me you need a favor and I will gladly pay you by check. But this way, it totally leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Anyway, the good thing is that I got the deal I wanted and everything was taken care of and I have no problems with the work. But I do have a problem with the guy answering the phone.
