- about a week for DWP to approve the Rebate request
- a couple of weeks for LA City to approved the Permits (1-Panel upgrade and 2-Rooftop Solar System)
- a week for delivery and installation of the Solar Panels, and Panel Upgrade
- two weeks for LA City to sign-off on the Permits
- two weeks for DWP to approve and turn on the System!
Jeff (and Matt- the owner), were there throughout the whole process, and Jeff was very accessible when I needed questions answered (he's not just a Sales Rep- he's very knowledgeable about Solar systems and the entire installation process- permits, Power Companies, tax benefits, etc.) . The installation of everything went off without a hitch; and even the DWP Tech. who "turned-on" the system, commented that he's turned on several Solar Systems installed by Mimeos, and heard nothing but praise for their work- and, that he was going to use Mimeos when he has his own system installed! I've already had family members ask me who I used, and they will be reaching out to Jeff and Mimeos for their homes. Thanks!!
Initially I spoke with Jeff who later came out and worked on the monitoring system.
My consult was with a young man named Chris who was very knowledgeable and best of all did not give off the "salesman" vibe. Some of the other companies sell Solar like the aluminum siding salespeople in the movie Tin Men. The more I spoke with Chris the more trust I had with Mimeos and the more I found myself hoping that the pricing and product was going to be fair and solid.
I had gotten answers to my many questions about Solar from other bidders who had come out, but when I asked the same questions of Chris he usually gave me simpler, better answers to those same questions.
The company does more than solar and hires independents to do the work. They do have all the necessary licensing--I would check this online for any installer I plan to hire.
One of the most important elements in my buying decision was to make sure that I generated enough energy to cover my entire bill for the year. When I brought up the fact that my last years energy usage might be low compared to previous years with other companies it was mostly ignored. Chris took time to look at my spreadsheet (with my previous energy totals and bills) and discuss what would work best for me.
All the people who worked on the job I got to know on a first name basis--not because they were there too long--just because they were all professional and friendly.
Keeping the work area clean everyday is important and they were extremely thoughtful in this regard. I was told ahead of time when workers were coming and everyone working on the project went out of the way to make sure my neighbors weren't disturbed.
All the hardware went in easily and the only issue I had was with accessing the monitoring software. I switched from a static IP to a dynamic (the system was originally set up with a static IP and was working), so there needed to be some changes to get it working. The system was still generating energy fine, but I wasn't able to view it. Mimeos kept following up until the system was operational and functioning normally. Other companies might disappear after final payment is received, but not Mimeos.
I would frequently get emails from Kaliza during the process about inspections, rebates and general updates on the entire process. Whenever I would get an email from her I sometimes thought she was even more excited about my solar project than me--just a very pleasant vibe.
On occasion I spoke with Matt, the owner, about certain concerns I had and he was very accommodating and took care of me as well.
When I almost made the decision to hire another company I spoke to Chris and explained the situation and he worked with me on the system to get the bids closer in price. I consciously made the decision to pay a little more knowing that I wouldn't have to worry about the end result or have aggravation during the process (and I'm sure glad I did)!
I highly recommend Mimeos!Licensing
