Mark did a fantastic job and stayed within budget.  Our condo has very uneven floors and walls and he did a great job making everything level and plumb using an "old school" mud method. He was very clean and was great with our dog and cat. The end result exceeded expectations.

Mark of L.A. Custom Tile recently finished the remodel of a small bathroom.  He did our master bath 3 years ago and did such a fabulous job that I did not consider hiring anyone else.  This bathroom is the only downstairs bathroom and is only 5 ft x 5 ft.  I needed it to serve two purposes: powder room and guest bathroom with a shower for overnight guests.  The only way to maximize the space was to create a "Euro" bath that is fully waterproofed and fully tiled so it can serve as a shower and a powder room.  Mark totally demo'd the old bathroom, raised the ceiling, plumbed, brought in a licensed electrician to do the wiring, installed all fixtures, and did the most amazing tile work I've ever seen.  I chose hand-made tiles that are intrinsically uneven, not knowing how difficult they were to work with.  Only a highly experienced tile perfectionist could have done the job. Mark created a bench and an inset shelf in the shower area.  The room is fully tiled: floor, walls, ceiling.  It is a gorgeous spa-bath and looks much bigger than it actually is.  I've used many contractors for remodel work; Mark is by far the best.  He is honest, reliable, and highly skilled.  I recommend him without reservation.

Mark is absolutely amazing. He came into a bad situation and saved my house! I had been ripped off by a horrible tile installer and I was concerned my dream home was never going to look the way I wanted. Mark ripped out all the bad work and started the whole job from scratch. His attention to detail was amazing to watch and I appreciated his work ethic. Between my kitchen and two bathrooms, Mark installed a wide range of expert level tile. One bathroom was a full Mosaic floor and wall to wall and ceiling! Mark's custom tile hood over my stove is truly something right out of a magazine.  Mark was so easy to work with and made great suggestions whenever an element of design was unclear. Only when one room was perfect and I had signed off would he move on to the next one. I would also like to mention that Mark was very clean. He set a standard for respect and cleanliness on my job site that had a ripple effect through the other workers. I really appreciated everything Mark did for me not just my tile but also my sanity on this job. I will always be thankful for his service.

All of the work Mark did could not possibly look better.  He is fantastic and I would absolutely recommend that you hire him for any of your tile needs.  He is an absolute perfectionist and thinks through every single detail before he continues to work.  The kitchen job he did for us looks gorgeous and I can't tell you how many compliments we get on his work every time a person steps foot into our home.
In addition to his great work product Mark is just a really great guy.  He is respectful, he is honest, fair and he shows up on time and does exactly what he says he will.  He even went above and beyond to fix things for us just because they needed to be fixed.  For example, he put some WD40 on our door hinges so they would stop squeaking and even fixed our under-cabinet lighting in our kitchen.
One other outstanding qualities of Mark's is his vast breadth of experience.  It is SOOO valuable to work with a guy like Mark that has 30 years of experience. It's highly unlikely that you can show him a job he hasn't seen before and he pulls on those experiences to ensure that your job is done perfectly.  He can also offer you great advice that he's learned over the years (i.e. what color tile goes with your counter, what styles are people using today, what color grout looks best with your tile.)  For example, we were planning to do a plain white sub-way tile in our kitchen and were just going to get a regular shiny white one from any basic store. Mark said, this is just a suggestion but you might want to consider using the matte style which is much more modern and being used more in kitchen's today.  AND we love it and are so grateful that he made that suggestion!!!  The patio, the bathrooms and the wet-bar jobs also look fantastic and there is not one single thing I wish he did differently in our home.  If you are in search of a custom tile installer your search should end here, hire Mark!!!  I assure you you will be extremely happy with the end result and working with him throughout the process.

Mark is top-notch. We would definitely hire him again. We had an old disgusting fireplace that was in desperate need of a make-over. Being that it was the focal point of our home, we really needed it to be done right and look good. That's when we gave Mark a call.
Mark came out within 1 day of our call for a free estimate. He gave us a very competitive bid and we booked him for the job immediately with no regrets.
He showed up, as scheduled, and got to work right away. The best thing I can say about Mark is that he truly cares about his craft and is invested in how the project turns out. Everyone else we talked to only seemed to care about getting the job and getting paid. Mark is passionate about tile-work and it shows in his work.
He asked for our input at every step of the way and also gave us honest feed-back about our tile choices. It felt like we did the project together.
On top of the great work that Mark did, he is truly pleasant to be around and exudes positive energy. He is 100% trust-worthy and we felt totally comfortable with him being in our house on his own.
We are planning to add a new bathroom in the future, and when we are ready, we will definitely be calling Mark at LA Custom Tile.

Mark was really wonderful. My husband had demoed the faux river rock facade off our fireplace surround because it was tacky, but we didn't have much of a plan for what to replace it with. I knew that I liked tile surrounds with wooden mantels, but in the demo some of the bricks of the original surround were damaged and the surface was pretty uneven. I contacted Mark at LA Custom Tile because he's in the neighborhood and asked him how the whole fireplace-tile process worked, and he suggested that I buy the tile I liked and contact him when I had it. So I found a beautiful marble mosaic that was sold by the box. One box was just enough for my surround, but the lady at the store suggested I buy two boxes because most tile setters won't work with fragments of mesh sheets and will just want to use complete mesh sheets of mosaic (creating a lot of wasted tile) rather than piecing sheets together to make the material stretch. Well, since the lead time on the tile was only a few days, I bought just one $300 box and thought I'd see whether Mark was able to make it work. If he couldn't, I could just buy another box later. After the tile arrived, I called Mark and, because of a delay on the big project he was working on, he was able to come do the job the next day at a really great price. He made the single box of tile work, saving me $300 in materials, and he fixed the edge of the firebox, where bricks had been damaged by the demo, with cement. His execution of the tile setting was careful and precise, and I could tell that he took real pride in his work. When a carpenter came to take measurements for the mantel we're having built, he remarked upon what a great job our tile guy had done. Thanks, Mark!

This job had lots of problems from the beginning. The bathroom is old and needed a new shower. It had to be completely reframed because of the dry rot. This was included in the contract, but Mark wanted extra money for it, even though my husband, who is a journeyman carpenter, helped him do all the reframing.
He did a decent job on the new tile, but when it came to precision work cutting out and replacing old broken tiles, the workmanship was mediocre at best. The demo must have been done badly with lots of debris in the pipes, because his plumbing work left us with a clogged sink drain which later required another plumbing company to come out and cut out the cast iron pipe and replace it, along with a whole new sewer line. All the brand new faucets drip. The grout is not very good, already showing some cracking and chipping after only 2 months of use.
Mark is a very nice person, He works from the heart.  But I did not like his attitude about working from the contract.  He went way over time - it took him 3 months instead of 6 weeks, as he works alone,  He arrived every day cheerful, but left only after working 4 or 5 hours. Every day he cried about how much he was spending at Home Depot for the rough plumbing items (also in the contract), and by the end of the first week he had 1/2 of the agreed fee, but had only done the demo and 1/2 of the rough plumbing.
When I slowed down the remaining payments according to the contract, he got very insulted.
There were too many personality clashes, so the entire experience felt like an endless fight.  Mark is a good person, as I say, and I do like him in spite of all the problems, but I would not recommend him to anyone who wants a good, on-time, on-budget professional job done right he first time.

I have not had great luck with contractors in general-- it seems that many of them do not see themselves as craftsman, and just do the minimum to get out the door.  So I was ecstatic that Mark was passionate about his craft, and focused on every detail.  Normally I would watch like a hawk, but it was clear that Mark was on it.
Here are the top observations that differentiate Mark from other contractors I have hired.
1) he calls back when he says he is going to, he arrives when he said he would, he doesn't disappear suddenly.
2) When something small came up that would be easy for him to say "you need to hire an electrician/ plumber/ framer etc" he just took care of it
3) he did everything himself-- he could have had day laborers do the demolition work etc, but he wanted to be sure nothing was damaged
4) I would strongly recommend him
5) he was always one step ahead of the project so nothing went wrong or felt behind
6) he is old school craftsman contractor he cemented all the shower walls and floor to perfection then he installed the tiles perfectly

Mark was very responsive, professional and took a great deal of care that we were happy with the outcome.  Which we were.
Communication:  He called me back immediately upon my first request.  Stayed in contact throughout the process.  And always let me know what was going on and what was left to do.
Punctuality:  Mark kept all appointment times and if he couldn't he called to let us know a new time.
Quality of Work:  Mark was very forth coming with suggestions and options going so far as to pick up extra marterials so we could make an informed decision about our choices.  The mosaic looks perfect.  Extactly as we discussed.
Pricing and Time Line:  The cost was very resonable and was done quickly.
I would reccomend LA Custom Tile and Mark to anyone who asks.  Wish I had more work that needed to be done.
Thanks

Eight months after our very successful mosaic planter experience with LA Custom Tile, we decided to remodel our guesthouse bathroom. After a few bids, we decided to again trust Mark and again we are totally satisfied. He removed the old ugly fiberglass walls and tub and built us a beautiful new shower with matching floor. He also replaced the small sliding window and did extra plumbing work, replacing corroded pipe connections and installing a new sink faucet. Choosing tile is not the easiest task and my wife is quite picky. Mark was very patient and his artistic recommendations are right on; together they made great choices.

Mark was very professional every step of the way. He responded to my initial message within hours and came the next day to give me an estimate. Because these were repairs and not complete re-dos, there were a lot of unknowns. Mark demonstrated his expertise by laying out the various problems that could arise once he started removing the loose tiles, and the costs associated with each scenario. Once I hired him, he arrived when he said he would and cleaned up at the end of the day.
I wanted to avoid replacing the whole floor; I just wanted the loose tiles reset. He was able to do this, and went above and beyond to give me the best result possible under the circumstances. It should be noted that the tiles were not installed properly originally, so he was working on top of and adjacent to shoddy work. It's not perfect, but if I wanted perfect I would have had him redo the whole thing. He kept me informed throughout the work, showing me areas of imperfection along the way to make sure that I would be happy with the end result. I think I am happier with the end result than he was, because he is clearly a perfectionist!
I would hire him again for any tile job large or small and would recommend him to friends without hesitation.

LA Custom Tile came out and installed the backsplash in our kitchen after I finally fired the contractor who had his "tile person" make a mess of the installation.  Mark had to take out what the contractor that had already put in. And it was a hard tile to put in because it was strips of glass, porcelain and metals. Mark's  work was very well done. He got here on time. He cleaned up. He was telling me what choices I had. There was a lot of planning ahead of time to go into this project and Mark did not skip a step. I would rate LA Custom Tile an 'A', everything's an 'A', across the board.

Mark was a great contractor. I called him to re-tile a kitchen island, however the island bar was sagging and not stable. I had intended to hire a handyman to fix that aspect, but Mark not only offered his services, he came up with ingenious ways to do the reinforcement effectively. The bar and kitchen island are now much more stable. Mark's tiling was clean and professional and Mark worked very hard for the full day job.

Mark was fantastic to work with.  I knew what I wanted and he helped me accomplish the look I was going for.  The bathrooms turned out great and the condo went for well over list price, proving to be well worth the money we put into the project.  Mark was always on time, kept in touch with me if there were any problems, and was easy to get on the phone.  There was never a time I felt out of touch with how things were progressing.  Since we were not on the site while the work was being done and we were on a tight timeline, communication was key, and Mark was easy to deal with.  It really made the whole thing much less stressful.
We also had an idea of what tile/fixtures we wanted to use in the project, so Mark was flexible, only charging me for labor and his materials where it made sense to do so, provided I could do my own tile/fixture shopping.  This let me have a bit of control over my budget in terms of material costs, which I appreciated.  Not many contractors would be so accommodating.
We dealt with a few problems related to wrong plumbing parts that the suppliers had screwed up, but Mark was quick to adjust and we never lost time while we ordered new parts.  Mark's work was meticulous and perfectionist when it came to setting the tile, making sure the tiles lined up perfectly around drains and borders, or that a tricky mosaic was perfectly laid out -- little details that can really separate a pro from the rest.  He did all the work himself, was on site personally every day, and didn't sub anything out.
Ultimately, the project was a really good experience all around.  If you can snag Mark for your tile and bathroom project, you're very lucky!  I know I will be calling him for any future projects.  The only regret we sold the condo and now we don't get to live with our beautiful new bathrooms.

The first time I worked with Mark Rezaee, of LA Custom Tile was a few years ago when he re-modeled our master bath bath (taken down to studs) prior to our putting our house up for sale.  Mark's spectacular work was an integral part of getting top dollar for our house!
The most recent job we had LA Custom Tile do was in the Master bath of our BRAND NEW condo complex??.which needed repairs due to the sub-par original construction.  I though it might be too small a job for Mark (and well beneath his talents) to be of interest to him?but...he was only to happy to help us out.  For anyone wanting ANY sort of work on tile - do call LA CUSTOM  TILE?
Mark is firstly an ARTIST who knows how to maximize the beauty of tile or stone.
He is on time for appointments or calls to let you know he is going to be even a few minutes late.
He is meticulous.  He cleans up beautifully and takes his trash with him.
He is fair on price.

I highly recommend him.

Mark was fantastic with everything. He installed tile all around our bathtub that we purchased from a wholesaler using a high quality "floating" method instead of backer board. It's been two years and it still looks great. He also helped us fix a few other things in the bathroom including replacing some drywall that had to be demoed and reinstalling our toilet. His work is of very high quality and he did it as quickly as could be expected for a great price (I don't remember exactly, but it was definitely less than other quotes we got). He's a super nice guy and very easy to work with, definitely give him a chance at your job!

If I had one word to describe Mark it would be 'perfectionist'!  The end product is absolutely gorgeous and very high quality.  His attention to detail was exceptional.  He really spent his time doing the whole project correctly.  Everything was level, square and perfectly lined up.  I'm very impressed.  I greatly underestimated how difficult having a bathroom (including the ceiling) fully tiled in mosaics would be.  There were a number of tricky details that could have turned into real problems (like the in-wall toilet tank and solar tube).  Mark worked with the other subs to make sure there would be no surprises.   Perfection costs a little more than we were anticipating and took a little longer but was worth it.  If you have a tile project you want to take to the next level then give yourself a little extra budget and time and hire Mark.  Thanks, Mark!  We really appreciate the attention to detail and hard work.
