KATE HOFFMAN DECORATIVE PAINTING

I hired Kate to come in to a fix a horrible job done by a previous group of painters. I had a very specific look in mind for a wood staining job and had done a lot of my own testing. I hired (a well recommended painting company off of Angie's List) to stain a front entry area that included a small deck and wooden siding area. They did admit that they were more painters than stainers but said they would be able to do the job. I gave them the materials they were to use and a sample of what the final product was supposed to look like. When they were done - the job looked horrible! And, worse, they didn't seem to care. It was really blotchy because it was poorly applied. In comes Kate. She is a REAL artist and she REALLY cares about the end product. She worked with me on solutions for repairing the work done by the previous painters and didn't stop until we came up with something that we were both happy with. She came up with an inventive idea that stripped the previous work on every other board, so that it would fix the blotchiness but not cost me an arm and a leg. The final product looks amazing. I was so pleased with her work on the front, that I had her stain a pergola on the back patio. She worked closely with the contractor building the pergola so that her work was finished as he needed the boards.The pergola looks equally as good as the front deck area. Her work shows that she knows her materials and techniques like a true artist and a craftsperson. And, she really cares about how everything will look in the end. I would and will hire Kate again and again for any decorative painting or staining work and anything else I can get her to do.

Kate was very easy to work with, very professional, showing up when she said she would. She came highly recommended by friends. We asked to see her portfolio and were very impressed. She has worked for many years as an artist, so we had a lot of confidence in her. She was very efficient, neat and tidy. I was 9 months pregnant when we decided to start the project, so Kate's ability to start and finish in a timely manner was very important to me. The whole thing took about 1 week. Kate worked around my schedule when necessary. Honestly, I enjoyed her company so I can't say enough great things about it.
