I recently extensively remodeled my home and had hardwood floors installed. My contractor strongly recommended Kalley so I agreed to use them. While the quality of the actual wood and installation were acceptable, the company's responsiveness has been absolutely the worst I experienced among the dozens of subcontractors I used. I literally had to make dozens of calls to the owner David A in order to have what he called 'very simple, minor touchups' completed, and to this day (months later) the work is still not completed. I have been told multiple times by David to 'please be patient' and have heard multiple excuses why they can't make it to my place to complete the work. I have taken time off from work several times to be home for a scheduled visit from this company, only to have the workers never show up!
I think part of the problem is that in at least my situation, Kalley utilized subcontractors to do significant pieces of the work and seem to have little control over their accountability/responsiveness either. And when a subcontractor of theirs flakes out, Kalley doesn't seem to have the bench strength (or desire) to find someone else to take care of the situation. Extremely unprofessional.
On the flip side, the owner David was extremely prompt (and aggressive) in asking for payment for the various phases of the job. I feel stupid for having paid him in full for the job before all the loose ends were completed. Don't make that same mistake yourself if you use this company!

"Please call David as he was dealing with you I know he takes care of all his customers as he has many big builders who continually give him work"

Floorw was refinished in two days. There was a problem with the varnish but the worker simply extended his time to fix it. He was very respectful and sealed the entire room to lessen the dust throughout the house.

The crew did a great job and the floor looked great. The only issue is expect the house to have dust and a smell after the floor is done but that would be true for any company.

This was a gift, so I am unsure exactly how much was spent, but I know the from the gift giver the price was right. They showed up on time, cheerfully and carefully moved the furniture and went to work. they drop-clothed whatever could not be moved, and left my home clean.

Please see above comments. Do's and Don'ts These are the things we feel Harry and Sergio practiced that contributed to the success of our flooring restoration: Do bond with your customer. It's a partnership. Don't assume what needs to be done. Take the time to see for yourself. Do communicate the game plan for the job. Do respect the opinions of your customers. Do follow up with an inspection visit and/or phone call.

This company is related to Lynn's Flooring, who I originally contacted with a "Big Deal:. After a phone issue was resolved everything went smoothly and I have a beautiful floor. I will be using this company when I replace the bedroom carpets with hardwood.

My husband and I took possesion of our new house on the third of July,we were not planning to re-do the hardwood floors but after visiting a friends house with beautifull wooden floors we deciced at the last minute to do ours before we moved in,so we were not expecting such great response as we got from Harry,he came and gave us an estimate the next day, even though it was the 4th of july !!The workers came the next day,on time and the work was done on Friday with the finishing on Saturday, the workers were promt and patient when I had a hard time deciding which stain I wanted and mixed up a few colours for me to see.\Alltogether it was a top notch proffesional job.The floors turned out really beautifully.l

The upstairs flooring is laid over concrete, without a sub floor. I'm a bit nervous that this work won't last, every I know with experience and everything I've read on the web advises STRONGLY not to lay hardwood floors directly onto a concrete floor. Harry (the salesman) and I had discussed a subfloor during the bidding. But, Manuel, the man who does the work, said for some reason, I was never told, the subfloor wouldn't work, so it had to be special adhesive directly to the concrete. This made me extremely nervous, because I wanted floors that will last. Harry assured me repeatedly that he's been doing flooring for twenty plus years and he would do nothing that would endanger myself or my family. He said this repeatedly and sort of made fun of me wanting to know about the quality of the floors.
Their contract limits their own liability, but gives no warranty regarding the wood or the laying of the floor.
Manuel, the workman, is courteous, prompt and a good worker.
THere seems to be a communication gap between Manuel and Harry, in that Harry would tell me one thing and then Harry would tell me another. This made scheduling challenging.
The other strange thing was the second half of my payment they asked me to write a check out directly to Manuel. He needed the money to buy materials for another job.
Then there is the fact that I've received repeated calls from Harry asking me to write a review on Angie's list. So, here it is Harry.

A delightful experience from start to finish. Harry came during the remodeling of my new home to make recommendations and provide an estimate. My Interior Decorator and I were very impressed with his knowledge, professionalism and price. His and quot;old worldand quot; charm was a lovely bonus. Harry pointed out some stains that might still be visible after refinishing.
The company brought the wood for the new floors into the house to and quot;adjust to the environmentand quot; for a few days before installation. They were very flexible as a few days turned into weeks to accommodate construction delays and came exactly when we needed them.
Jose Manuel did the work over a period of two days. He was pleasant, focused and seemed very skilled. Then we were not allowed in the house for a number of days, to allow the finish to harden.
When we finally saw it, we were completely dazzled. The floors came out much better than anyone, including the decorator, expected (and she's seen a lot of floors refinished.) As predicted, there were two darker areas (water stains). But overall, the floors are just gorgeous. No one can guess which floors are old and which ones are new, even in places where the two join together.

Harry Abramson is the owner. I would never recommend them. They were awful. I was really dissatisfied and they did a terrible job. It was one headache after another. It was horrible. It was one thing after another. They didn't come for one or two days. I had to call and the guy was very rude. When they finally came out we were waiting for them and they didn't show up so I had to call again. Finally they came at 2 pm to do some work and he had to come back twice. They did a shoddy job and we were not happy. They promised they would do 2 coats of polyurethane to seal and they never came back to do that. There was a hole in the floor and they never patched that. Then they said they never said they would do that. When we ultimately moved in the floor got scratched and now we are going to have to do it again. The customer service, the technicians and the products were awful. He was charging $500 for the breakfast nook and he said that he would also do the dining room for another $100. The dining room didn't need to be done but I let him do it and now it looks really bad. He did a terrible job. I would never use them again.

I needed a stair nose repaired on Engineered Natural Walnut floors. I have tried multiple hardwood floor companies before Kalley Flooring repair a broken stair nose with no success. After much failure in trying to find someone to find the wood and fix the stair, I finally called Kalley flooring. They always had confidence that they could repair the stair. And they were right. They ordered the Natural Walnut and made a custom piece to fix it. It worked out great. I was thankful for their willingness to tackle any job. The wood matches.Thank you Kalley Flooring.

Harry and his team did a great job sanding and refinishing my living room floors. They also fixed up the wood at the entryway and just outside the living room so it blended in nicely. If I decide to refinish the floors in the rest of the house I will be getting Kalley Flooring to come back.

Good contractors are hard to find, so I only use people on Angie's List. Harry was easy to get a hold of and met with me the same day I called. He carefully examined my floors and went over the price with me. All the other floor people I called quoted me twice as much. The job went very fast and Harry's men were very clean and polite. It all took 3 days with drying time inbetween coats. The color in uniform through out the whole floors and no signs of old nails. The floors look great, newer that new. They just don't put in hardwood floors like that today and I see why so many people love hardwood floors in the home. I took pictures put can't upload them to my computer now. Words just do not do justice on how well the floors look. I would have Kalley flooring do my flooring needs any time. Thank you Harry and your crew too!

The workers were conscientious and knew what they were doing. The job was completed in about half a day. The repairs to the floor look good as well as the refinishing. There was only one problem. After the floor was sanded, they didn't vacuum up entirely some of the sandings in the corners. Later, when they applied the coating, you could feel and see pieces of the sanding that were now under the coating. I would have given them an A if it wasn't for this.

Harry Abramson was extremely helpful in fitting me in, last minute. I literally called late afternoon one day and the workers began the job first thing the following morning. The workers were prompt, professional, skilled, polite, thorough and clean. The entire job was completed in 2 days (which included sanding and the application of 3 coats of floor sealant. I would highly recommend them to anyone and give props to Harry for making it all happen so quickly.

We purchased an Angie's List Big Deal: "$99 for 100 Sq Ft. of Hardwood Refinishing!" When we called to schedule work, we asked if the sanding was machine or manual sanding and the owner told us that it was electronic and that they need to sand 3 times to do the work properly and that they know what they're doing. He was VERY rude. He went on to say that the Big Deal only covered one sanding and coating. We said we wanted to just take the Big Deal offer and the owner asked for the exact square footage (because if it was just an inch over, it would be extra). We measured and called him back and let him know the area was 10x7.5. He again tried to upsell us on the need to spend an additional $400 to do the job properly. When we told him that we wouldn't accept his upcharge to coat and sand the floor 3 times instead of the intended 1 time with the Angie's list deal. The owner said "I don't want to work for you. Call Angie's list and get a refund." We told him we purchased the deal and he said he didn't care, he wasn't going to work for us.We checked the Angie's List reviews and it appears he does this frequently to people buying the Big Deal and who don't want to agree to additional work beyond the deal. He is not honoring the purchases that don't result in additional money for him. This man was extremely rude and clearly the Big Deal is an inconvenience for him when it doesn't result in the customer agreeing to spend more money than agreed upon through Angie's List. I also read that the owner dismisses complaints by accusing the customers of being rude. This was not the case. We have a small foyer area which has hardwood floors and the area needs to be refinished. This was the perfect "Deal" for us at this point in time and I wanted to have the work done as outlined in the Angie's List Big Deal. Deals like this are a way of learning about a company before committing to a larger project. This could have lead to additional work for Kalley Flooring since we have another house that needs flooring on the entire first level, and now I know not to consider this unprofessional company for any further work. The owner has no integrity and is abrasive and rude, which I can only assume would translate to any contract work he provides.
Response from Kalley Flooring
"It seems people want us to do more than what the deal states. We satisfy the majority of the people and when a customer gives us attitude before the job starts we rather pass. The Big Deal is self explanatory it is for ONE coat only and One sand only. If it needs more work to be done it will obviously cost more. We hope you find another contractor who will satisfy you needs"

Harry came and gave me an estimate on refinishing my really messed up engineered hardwood floors he , showed up early, and is a nice guy, his price was higher then another estimate I received, but there were a lot of good reviews on Angies List so I went with them. The workers showed up ontime when the job was scheduled and did a great job. There was a lot of detail work I was concerned with, but it wasn't an issue, these guys are good. Once the work started, they had a problem sanding some parts of the stairs (risers I think), so they put in some new wood that they stained to match. This upped the price some, I was a little bummed out about this because I felt this should have been caught in the original estimate, but o well. Besides that, a great job and the floors look great!

I had wanted my 1940's red oak floors refinished for some time. When I saw the Angie's deal for Kalley flooring, I checked out his rating and his web page then bought 2 of the deals. Harry responded promptly to my call and came over for a consultation. He explained the deal to me, extra coats were extra money, extra square footage, and that I could have my floors stained for an extra fee. I ended up spending an extra $850 and boy am I happy that I did. His crew came over and spent time going over color samples on my floor. I had a picture of a grey floor for over a year and I showed it to them. They came back the next day and did a grey sample. It was perfection. My floors look fantastic. They look updated. modern. the work is impeccable and I am very happy. I would use them again and recommend them in an instant.

I joined Angie's List in order to buy a 'Big Deal' for 100 sq ft of flooring, sanded, with one coat of finish applied. I have been redoing a townhouse and my small kitchen floor really needed a 'make over'. When Harry came to view the floor and schedule the work to be done, he recommended three coats of finish. After some discussion, we agreed on one coat under the banquette and two coats for the remainder of the floor. On the appointed day, Mariano and his co-worker arrived early. They were polite and very professional. They set about work, removing the banquette and a small table from the room. They then prepared the floor and applied the first coat. When it was dry, they moved the banquette back into place and applied the second coat to the rest of the floor. A follow up phone call from Harry, after the work was completed, was prompt. It was worth joining Angie's List in order to buy the 'deal'. The floor looks great!

My wife and I recently purchased a home that had and quot;cupping/warpingand quot; throughout the existing floors and needed repair. Additionally we wanted to have hardwood installed in other rooms in the house. I did my research on hardwood repair and installation and had 4 companies provide quotations. Some of the questions I had included: What can be done to eliminate cupping on existing flooring? Have the existing floors been previously refinished? How do we prevent cupping on new wood install? Will there be problems in matching new wood to the old wood? What is the best coating treatment? How long will the project take?

Kalley was competitive in their bid, was very knowledgable and took time to answer all of our questions. For these reasons we elected to go with Kalley. Harry was extremely responsive, focused on delivering a top quality product, and presented options to of where to save money. Harry really made an effort to ensure our satisfaction throughout the project. To alleviate our concern of correcting the cupping problem on our existing floors, Harry had Manuel, his lead installer, refinish an area before we proceeded. Both Harry and Manuel were responsive and communicative throughout the project and met our agreed timeline. Installing and refinishing floors can be a messy project, but Manuel cleaned up after every day and thoroughly cleaned for any sawdust before staining and finishing. Manuel does excellent work. Harry and Manuel were also responsive to a few changes that we wanted to make mid-project and were very fair in addressing cost impact. My wife and I are extremely pleased with the way the project came out and the level service that Kalley provided. I am also impressed with the follow up customer service that we have received from Harry making sure that we were still pleased with their work. We strongly recommend Kalley - they are competitively priced, perfectionists, and customer service focused.
