Upholstering - Boat & Auto
The sunroof on my 2003 Infiniti would not close. I first tried an Infiniti dealer. The service mechanic got the sunroof to close, but recommended that I not open it because it might not close again on its own. He reported that I "needed" a new rail assembly that would cost $2500 plus another $300-400 labor for removal and installation.
Not willing to accept that as the last word, I took my car to Julio in Highland Park and left it there for a day. Julio brought in a sunroof specialist who removed the headliner to expose the mechanism, thoroughly cleaned and lubricated it and finally reassembled everything. It now works like new. No parts were necessary. Total cost $250. I was so pleased that I tipped him another $10.
Julio himself is friendly, sympathetic and responsive. If you don't mind the sketchy neighborhood where it is located, I heartily recommend his shop, which performs all varieties of auto interior work.
