Jesus Gonzalez - hired through Walmart

DO NOT WORK WITH JESUS. He’s shifty about prices and assembled my bed frame without using any of the washers provided because he said “it’s not really needed.” I didn’t realize he didn’t include the washers until after he left. Beyond that, he showed up two hours late for the appointment. Before he came the first time, he offered to charge me less to assemble my dresser if I went directly through him (so he told me to cancel the appointment I originally set through Walmart’s home assembly service). He knocked off $20 from Walmart’s price but I insisted on giving him the full amount, because at that time, I was happy with his work and thought it was a fair price. I told him I’d definitely be calling him again - I contacted him two days later to request his help with my bed frame. This time, he showed up 2 hours late… when I followed up with him a few hours before the appointment it took him a while to get back but he did tell me he was running late. I was a bit annoyed but things happen and he said his last job took a long time so I let it go. I asked him to three times before he came back to tell me his rate, and he dodged the question every time. My instincts told me he would try to pull something but he seemed nice so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I was kind to him and accommodating too, offering him cold drinks and giving him my speaker to play music, etc… clearly he took advantage of my kindness. He charged me 3x the amount he charged me the first time he came, only days earlier, even though it took him 30 minutes less. I was really irritated at that point but didn’t see until after he left that he neglected to use any washers. I paid him $65 less than what I paid for the bed frame — $145 for a quick job that he did in a half-a** way. I do not recommend using him… at first he seems great but he does the old bait and switch and ultimately, no matter how polite he initially seemed and affordable too - you will quickly come to find out what I did - he is unprofessional and not skilled enough to know to use washers on a wooden bed frame (or follow the directions).
