Original estimate was for $6k, which was approved. Then came change requests in the amount of $5k, so all in all we were looking at $11k. We paid them the $11k as they were telling us each and every week that it would be their last week, they were just finishing up the final touches. The "final touches" lasted for 6 weeks, WELL beyond the 4-5 day estimate we were given. At one point they got into a fight with our designer and refused to talk to her any more; she was being too nosy (God forbid she want to know when they'd be showing up at our house next). At the end of Sept., now 6 weeks into a 4-5 day project we were handed the final billing. The bills totaled $17k. I quickly asked where the statement showed out previous payments and SOMEHOW they came to $17k after the payments we had already made, and let me tell you there were NEVER change orders for an additional $17k. My fianc , being the wonderful person that he is, wanted them finished and out of our house so, without putting up much of a fight, he paid them and they agreed to finish the job without any further billing. Since then, we have seen them twice and the job is still not done. The doorbell box started buzzing and heating up to the point where we had to clip the wires, and the electricians had ZERO concern that our house just about caught on fire. First week of Nov. they were supposed to come finish up the remaining details; one day before they canceled, saying another client's deadline had moved up with, again, ZERO CONCERN for the fact our project due date was in AUGUST. The last email I sent them was 2 days ago telling them I am reporting them to the CSLB, BBB, and Angie's List. I have not yet gotten a response to that email.
