Avoid at all costs. Terrible customer experience. Although Heflin may have been in business since 1950, it's clear time has eroded their sense of customer service. As other's have pointed out -- Todd has an attitude and can easily lose his cool. This happened repeatedly when following-up on items promised that he failed to deliver. Before work began we requested the quote to include a breakout of labor, materials, and tax. Todd was pushy to rush the job, insisting on a flat project fee -- which led to being significantly overcharged. Todd frequently ghosted via all communication channels and became extremely defensive vs attempting to reach a resolution (check out the hidden one-star reviews below). Despite our HOA using Heflin for the past 15 years, we won't be working with the company going forward.

We had a gas leak at the meter on the street, and were given 48 hours by the SoCal Gas to have it repaired. We called Heflin & Son Plumbing and Heating after seeing their trucks on our street multiple times while were they working on our neighbors' homes. They answered our call right away and came out to our house within 20 minutes. They quoted a very fair price, and they were able to start right away. We received a quote from another company to replace the galvanized pipe with PVC pipe...and their quote was much higher. They worked quickly and completed the job in half a day. After they had completed the job, they came in and lit all the pilot lights and made sure all our gas appliances and central heating were working correctly. We liked them so much, we are having them come back today to take care of some additional plumbing issues we have in the house.

It turned out terrible. He charged me twice as much as I should have been charged. I just recently called him back because the in floor heating was making some noise and I did not know what it was. He said that he would be here a week ago. He did not call, nothing he just did not show up. He is extremely over priced. I could have had the job done for $300. I would not use him again.

They come when they say they will. They do it reasonably priced, while making sure that they do high-quality work. They are like your old fashioned home town plumber that is a great company to deal with. They are very reliable.

Performed work WITHOUT authorization and then stuck me with a big bill. I called Todd Heflin regarding a broken garbage disposal at a rental property I own. He indicated that he would have someone go check it out and he would call me when he got there to let me know what it would cost to fix before doing any work (and I also verbally told him that I needed to know the cost before any work was done). I never received a call and the work was performed with out my authorization. When I called later that day to follow up, I was told the work had already been done and was then sent a text indicating a $355 charge for replacing the disposal. Had I know in advance the cost, I would not have had Heflin do the work.
I've used this company a number of times (approx. $8,000 in work over the past 2 years), and have now found that this is a consistant pattern. They seem response, fail to call or notify prior to doing work, make excuses afterwards and then send a large bill. The bills are also not itemized with just vague discriptions of work but no line items for cost of parts, etc. and round number prices. Over time, I have come to suspect a practice of overcharging, but due to the lack of detail in the bills it was difficult to determine. This time I have no doubt. When pressed, Todd provided more detail about the pricing, indicating $190 for labor costs, and $165 for parts. When I spoke with the tenant, who was present during the repair, he indicated that the job was completed in about 45 minutes by one individual (and the individual was not there more than 1 hour). According to the tenant, the plumber (Carlos) called Todd prior to doing any work and asked if he had the clients approval and Todd told him yes (which was not true). The cost of a 1 hour service call by this company is $95 and the price of the disposal installed online is $80. When I questioned Todd about the pricing, he indicated that they had a set charge of $140 for the replacement of a garbage disposal (yet, $190 was still charged) regardless of how long it took. If this was case, they I should have been informed of this when I first called. The sink was in working order, just the disposal did not work. There was no pressing nature to this job. If I had been informed of the pricing upfront I would not have had the work done by Heflin.
I will not use this company again.

Installation went well especially as we were having the bathroom next to the attic entrance remodeled at the same time. Did not clean sooty hand prints from the attic door and did not follow-up fastenting the registers to the walls in all the rooms as agreed. Otherwise, they are good people and we will certianly use them again.

They did good work until they forgot to apply for the permit. It took them 6 weeks to get the permit, come out and cover up the hole.

On the day of the job, they arrived on time and performed the work. They told us the work would take about four hours but it actually took around six hours. Regardless, they did a good job and we have not experienced any problems with their work since its completion.

All I want is an itemized price per item. This man was paid by cashiers check and I haven't seen him since. I need this for tax purposes and I have no way of knowing whether or not he has overcharged me for these items.

AS I SAY I THOUGHT THAT THEY WERE RELIABLE, AND I'VE USED THEM FOR TEN YEARS NOW, AND I'M VERY HAPPY WITH THEM. THEY ARE FRIENDS. IT'S AN OLD FAMILY BUSINESS. I'M FRIENDS WITH THE GRANDMOTHER. SHE AND HER HUSBAND STARTED THE BUSINESS AFTER HE CAME BACK FROM WORLD WAR II.
