ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN STUDIO

In my opinion, Environment Design Studio and Sean Femrite have been horrible to work with and very very expensive and unprofessional. They charged us $7,500 to develop a landscaping plan and then charged us $10,000 to clear weeds of our hillside. After they cleared the weeds in around April/May they said that they were too busy to complete the job and would not be able to do the landscaping until the fall...after they had already cleared my lot down to dirt and dust on my entire property. The first landscaping plan they gave us was quoted to cost over $100,000 to install and we told them that was way too much and they needed to lower it. They eventually gave us a quote for around $80,000. The plan didn't even include any lighting or planters or plants on our pool deck or anything that would have made it really nice. Once they said they didn't have time to complete the job, I interviewed three other landscape architects some of whom audibly laughed when they saw his plan and others said it was really basic or would never work for the hillside soil conditions at my house. We just hired another company who gave us a much better plan with lighting, irrigation, planters on the pool deck and in my opinion a much more beautiful design for the property for a total of around $46,000 to complete everything. I would never recommend Environmental Design Group or Sean Femrite to anyone as I feel that they totally took advantage of me and I will have ended up paying them $17,500 for nothing other than a barren hillside that they left in dirt and dust and for a horrible landscaping plan that we didn't even use.

EDS/Sean is very creative and enthusiastic and in the end we do have a beautiful, even magical garden, but I am not without complaints. Sean is interested in providing an instant garden with seemingly little thought given to its maintenance-I am concerned our garden is over planted and will soon grow out of control. At a personal level, he s charming, but often forgets the things that don't interest him about the project.

Very creative designer, very knowledgeable of plants and very artistic with his compositions. He's very sensitive to enhancing existing architecture with landscaping. His creative design and outstanding execution really enhanced the value of our home.
