CUNADOS CABINETS

These people contracted to make cabinets for a galley kitchen in an apartment in our building, promised them in two weeks, and delivered them ten days late. They looked good and are sturdy but their guys installed them upside down. The manager didn't notice it and paid them the final payment. When I noticed it, the manager called them right away. We were on a very tight schedule and they promised to come right back the same day and correct the problem. That was probably just to get the manager to hang up--they never came and we had to pay someone else $400 to get the cabinets re-installed rightside up. A month later, they bid on another job with us and swore that the first problem was a fluke in all their years of excellent service and it would never happen again. They even promised a substantial discount on the price of cabinets to make up for their former mistake. Against my better judgement, the manager gave them the down payment and two weeks later, right on schedule, they called to say they would deliver and install our cabinets the next day. They did not show up the next day or the day after that and each time we called, they switched their phones over to their answering machine and did not call back. Two days later they called to explain that there was a "Wood Shortage" and they hadn't been able to get the materials to build the cabinets. With our down payment securely in hand, apparently they didn't even feel the need to come up with a believable excuse! Eventually, they installed the new cabinets and they looked pretty good, but I was there to make sure they were rightside up and when I noticed a flaw in one door, I withheld final payment until they returned the next day with a new door. We run an apartment building and losing turnaround time like this costs us rental income to say nothing of enormous frustration. Just because they gave us a good price doesn't mean that we should have to police their every move. The first time they bid on a job for us, we told them we had six apartments that would need new cabinets. These people are too stupid to even realize that if they had done it right the first (or even second) time they would have had a lot more business from us. Avoid these people. They make nice cabinets, true, and they may quote you a good price, but it's only a good price if they actually deliver as promised.
