CITIBANK

Citibank presents a very professional front. Their branches look good, their tellers and bank staff are professional, well spoken and attractive. They offer some decent services at competitive rates. But the back office is a completely different story. It is extremely cumbersome to open an account. I signed up online, and in the branch. Once I got my debit card and check, I could not login to use online checking. The Indian call center was no help at all. I finally got the account up and running, went back into the branch to make sure we were good to go, and the branch banker told me that my signature would be verified when I issued my first check. So I wrote two checks (one to the DMV) and the checks both bounced. They were small checks, and I had a few thousand dollars in the account. There was no reason for them to bounce. So I went into the branch to investigate and they said "Oh, you never called us to activate your checks." I was under the impression that since I had visited the branch, told my banker that I received my checks, that I was good to go. The bank initially refused to admit error. I told them that I did not think I had made an error - but even if I had, they still should have called me to let me know there was a problem before no-paying my checks. That never happened. When I first set up the account, they bombarded me with Gallup surveys on customer satisfaction. At the time, I was happy to give a good report. But based on my actual experience over time, I think Citibank is more concerned with their investor ratings than with their actual customers. I closed my business account, my personal checking account and a trust account. I won't be going back.

They are great company they offer good financing. They are running a great promo that I may win 5k to go towards my resent purchase. Easy company to deal with. Highly recommend. They are actually a fun company

They are aggressively marketing to Amex cardholders promising 50,000 miles. However there are many trap doors which you don't learn about until after you have signed up. Months and many requests later, no miles. It seems to be a scam.

I think Citibank is good. I really can't think of a time where I had a major problem with them. To date, I would consider myself to be a fairly satisfied customer with no major issues. I think they are a large company but at the same time, they seem to be fairly friendly and helpful on the phone and in their office. Sometimes larger companies can be a little impersonal but they really don't seem to be which is an attractive trait to have when you are a business and trying to appeal to the community at large.
