Working with these guys was dreadful. The work ultimately turned out looking ok but the experience of working with the contractors was infuriating. For starters, they initially estimated the job would take 5-7 weeks. The job was not done 6 months later, and after 9 months the contract is still not closed because they refuse to fix work that they claim they took care of, including the roof which is still leaking after the first rain of the season. The job started off great, and they are charming as hell. 3 cute, fun guys who you feel like you want to have over to your next party, because they're really fun. Well, the charm ended when the job stopped going well and they refused to take responsibility for big mistakes that were made. Example: I provided them with a rough drawing of what I wanted the front steps to look like... it was a rough sketch, not a blueprint. The work was a poured concrete platform and steps. Unfortunately, they didn't measure the distance from the driveway to the top of the bottom step and when the concrete was poured the height of the step was about 15 inches. They argued with me that they were just following the drawing, but took no responsibility for the fact that they just didn't do the proper measuring. Plus, they weren't even following the drawing because there was a different number of steps. No oversight. No responsibility. They also made virtually everything that was not explicitly written out in the contract a "change order." Example: contract included patching and painting room after construction was completed. They charged me extra to paint the whole room, because they claimed they only were going to paint the areas that they worked on. So what... they were going to leave half the room painted a different color? Huh? I could go on, but the biggest problem with these guys was their inability to handle criticism without getting all defensive and self righteous. In the latest example, they contracted to fix a leak in the roof that had water coming down in multiple areas of the house during big rain storms. 9 months after they began that work, during the first big rain of the season, the water is leaking back through the roof and into the hallway. They claim that they did their job because it's not leaking in other areas, and... get this one...said that the contract never guaranteed that their work would stop the leak. Umm... so what did I pay them to do then? When I asked them, pointedly, what we should do about this, their answer was, "I don't know... the contract never guaranteed that it would stop the leaking. We did our job." And of course, they did the usual contractor move of getting halfway through the job, then picking up other work that made the job drag on endlessly. They rarely came by to inspect work, and I had to point out all of the glaring mistakes that any contractor should have seen. Overall, these guys are cute, but if you want a good work "experience" look elsewhere.
