Orlando Castillo came to my home the same day I contacted him, to assess the damages. He explained what needed to be done, and how it would be done, and had both his architectural engineer and his structural engineer come to my home the next day (Saturday) to ensure his approach was structurally sound. His engineers gave me an estimate for their portion of the work to obtain the required city permit, and started design immediately. Orlando provided me an estimate within two days, and it was much lower than I expected. I sought other bids, and was given higher preliminary estimates, but could get nothing in writing without paying $300 to the contractor just for his engineers to come out and take a look. Orlando's engineers were able to obtain a city permit within one week, which is remarkable. Work started the next day. The work space was kept clean, the crew was very competent, my furnishings and decor were treated with care, the work was solid and done very efficiently, and the city inspections were well-timed (coordinated by Orlando) to keep things on schedule. I needed the work to be done quickly in order to meet escrow closing dates for the sale of my home, and these guys bent over backwards to help me achieve that goal, so that I could avoid penalty costs, and Orlando did not charge me extra for it. Orlando Castillo carries several building licenses plus all necessary insurances. He was a pleasure to have in my home. His references raved about their value and quality of his work, particularly framing and structural services, and many builders I spoke with tell me they always sub-contract their framing and structural work to Orlando Castillo.
