The solution was pretty quick and simple, so it didn't take very long. He also gave some advice on a venting issue I had related to a new gas dryer (for free). I've used Boss for big and small jobs and I believe they do not overcharge or overwork the problem.

I feel that the guy didn't want to fix the leak, he just wanted me buy a new faucet. He did the repair and it cost a lot more than what it should have and the leak was back in a couple of days after he was out. I wouldn't use them again.

"WE PHONED HIM TO CLEAR UP ANY MISUNDERSTANDINGS THAT OCCURRED IN THE PAST, BUT HE HAS NOT RETURNED OUR PHONE CALL AS OF YET. ON THE DATE IN QUESTION, WE DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AND FOUND THAT THE PRESSURE REGULATOR WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AS IS OUR STANDARD POLICY, WE EXPLAINED THE SITUATION TO OUR CUSTOMER AND RECEIVED THE NECESSARY APPROVAL TO BEGIN WORK. WE THEN REPLACED THE PRESSURE REGULATOR, BUT WE DID NOT HEAR FROM THE CUSTOMER AFTERWARDS ABOUT ANY COMPLAINTS. IF THE LEAK HAD RE-APPEARED ALL HE HAD TO DO WAS CALL US TO RESOLVE ANY AND ALL PROBLEMS. WE WOULD HAVE COME OUT AT NO ADDITIONAL COST TO THE CUSTOMER (AS IS OUR STANDARD-POLICY). IN ADDITION; WE MAIL A DETAILED QUESTIONNAIRE FOLLOWING SERVICE TO ALL NEW CUSTOMERS (WHICH HE WAS), ASKING IF THERE ARE ANY WAYS IN WHICH WE CAN IMPROVE OUR SERVICE. SCOTT DID NOT RETURN OUR QUESTIONNAIRE. ANY FEEDBACK FROM HIM (POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE) WOULD HAVE BEEN FORWARDED IMMEDIATELY, TO OUR SUPERVISORS AND TO THE TECHNICIAN WHO SERVICED HIS PREMISES. WE FEEL THAT HE SHOULD HAVE MADE THE NECESSARY EFFORT TO CONTACT US ABOUT ANY PROBLEMS HE ENCOUNTERED, WHICH WOULD THEN HAVE BEEN SUBSEQUENTLY ADDRESSED AND RECTIFIED, AT NO COST TO HIM. Overall it went well, but there were problems with the vanity installation due to walls not totally aligned and some drywall damage when old vanity was removed. I was very impressed that Boss's people made it work and did the adjustments and workarounds necessary to save the drawers in the vanity for my use which could have been a problem at first. They had a very "can do" attitude. I do think they are overpriced however for the work that was done and the time that it took considering I had all the parts.

I found water at the base of my house, saw water by the water heater. Saw the leak and told me he'd fix it for $289. Then told me some pipe wasn't up to code and dangerous. That was 500 dollars extra. 2 weeks later, still water at the base of my house. Called...NOW it was something called a t and p valve. He said there was so much water he couldn't see the other leak. $213.46. THEN he tested a water regulator in my garden and said it was too high pressure, causing things to blow. He changed it. $343. Said they were "waiving my $89 charge" (of course... if you have the work done they don't charge you that... said he was giving me a "discount"..meaningless, I didn't know the prices anyway. No change in my water pressure after he changed it.(?) Now, 2 weeks later checked. Still wet. Just got a call from the company after I said I was writing Angie's List, and they cannot come until Monday. Will write and amend it after they come out Monday.

"THIS VALUED CUSTOMER HAD A BURST-PIPE OVER THE WATER HEATER AS WELL AS UNDERSIZED, NOT PROPERLY INSTALLED VENT PIPING FOR THE FURNACE AND WATER HEATER (A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION). THERE WAS ALSO EXCESSIVE WATER PRESSURE IN THE HOUSE SYSTEM. THE FIRST TWO PROBLEMS WERE OBVIOUS AND CORRECTED. THE HIGH WATER PRESSURE WAS ONLY DETECTED WHEN THE MOISTURE OUTSIDE DID NOT DRY UP. THE PRICES FOR THE PRESSURE REGULATOR AND PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE WERE AT AN ADD-ON RATE, WHICH IS THE SAME PRICE AS IT WOULD HAVE BEEN IF IT WAS DETECTED ON THE FIRST VISIT. ALL THE WORK THAT WAS DONE WAS CRITICAL FOR THE PROPER FUNCTIONING OF THE PLUMBING SYSTEM. FINALLY, WE MUST SAY, THAT IT IS DIFFICULT TO EDUCATE ALL OF OUR CLIENTS ON THE INTRICACIES OF HOME PLUMBING SYSTEMS. WE DO NOT ENDEAVOR TO SELL SERVICES THAT ARE NOT NEEDED, BUT RATHER WE AIM TO PROVIDE HIGH-QUALITY, SAME-DAY SERVICE, TO ALL OF OUR CUSTOMERS. ALL THE SERVICES THAT WERE PROVIDED WERE FAIRLY PRICED, AND WE WENT OUT TO THE HOUSE 3 TIMES TO ENSURE THE INTEGRITY OF OUR SERVICE TO THE MEMBER. SINCERELY, BOSS PLUMBING"

Called the company in the morning and someone answered the phone said they would pass on the message. No one called back so we did and the customer service rep. Natalie, told us that they had a problem with the answering machine. Trouble is we spoke to a live person that morning. Anyway, they finally got here and the tech, Isaias did the work in about ten minutes. He was very efficient and clean. Unclogged the drain and it's been fine ever since. Poor customer service. Good tech. We had a ten dollar coupon for first time customers.

While the plumber's answering service was somewhat brusque (clearly not his fault), the plumber himself could not have been more friendly and accommodating. He went out of his way to make up for a previously negatively reported experience so that we would be satisfied and hire him again in the future, which we will certainly do.

It went fine, though I was dismayed that the only recommendation for how to fix the problem was to replace the entire main sewer line. I suppose it is in their financial interest to recommend only such drastic, expensive measures. But I discovered a much less expensive, albeit more temporary solution exists: hydro-jet the roots away and treatment the line yearly with the RootX herbicide.

IT IS NOT OUR PHILOSOPHY TO SPEND POTENTIALLY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS ON MAINTAINING A DAMAGED SEWER LINE IN SUCH POOR CONDITION THAT ULTIMATELY NEEDS REPLACEMENT. MONIES SUCH AS IN THIS CASE (WHERE THERE WERE MULTIPLE-AND- HEAVY ROOT PENETRATIONS) ARE BETTER SPENT ON CHANGING OUT THE LINE AND HAVING TROUBLE-FREE AND MAINTENANCE-FREE USE OF THE PLUMBING SYSTEM. HAD WE RECOMMENDED A BAND-AID APPROACH IN THIS CASE, A FEW MONTHS/YEARS DOWN THE LINE THE CUSTOMER MAY HAVE BEEN UPSET WITH US FOR WASTING MONEY ON A TEMPORARY FIX; MONEY THAT COULD HAVE BEEN APPLIED TO PERMANENT REPAIRS AND HEADACHE-FREE USE OF THEIR SYSTEM."

Initially there was a dispatch fee that they said would be waved if I had the work done. They guaranteed that the plumber would be out right away; I couldn't afford to wait around all day, so I agreed to the fee. The plumber was on time clean and courteous. He took a look at my tub and wrote up the cost to unclog it. I agreed with the price, signed the paperwork and he got to work. I paid him when he was done and I had a shower again. Overall the experience I had with them was a positive one. I like their professionalism and quick service.
