We got bids from about 6 different solar electric companies - from big ones to small.
Ended up choosing ASE because of their size and how they presented themselves - skilled in both roofing and electrician services.
It is a long and complicated process because of the regulations, getting the state and SC Edison involved.
The system installed is made by SunPower - which is a California based company. Parts are made in Mexico.

They are good.

It took them forever to get the permits and then another 3 months for installation. The services did not even work for 6 months. They were very incompitant and not responsive to our calls to come out and fix it. In the end, there were some faulty cables they installed and after they were repaired it started to work.

Matt met with us to discuss our options and made recommendations for the most effective system for our geographical area (close to the ocean). We interviewed several contractors but decided to go with Advanced Solar because Matt was the most knowledgeable and trustworthy of all. Although the system cost slightly more because Sunpower panels are more expensive (pricewise they were somewhere in the middle), we were swayed by the quality of the brand backed up by its extended warranty (10 years instead of 5) as well as Advanced Solar's 10 year bumper-to-bumper warranty. Also, some of the larger companies had hidden clauses (read the fine print!), which rubbed me the wrong way. Matt, along with his engineer DJ, designed a system that would allow us to benefit from a southern exposure while still maintaining a streamline look. The 16 (as opposed to 24 in other brands) Sunpower panels also allowed for a less intrusive arrangement. The company was very attentive to our needs. The entire installation took 3 days. The workers were professional, cleaned up, and the office took care of all of the paperwork and permits. All responses to calls, inquiries were prompt. I would recommend Advanced Solar if you're considering solar panels.

This guy is sensational. He is amazing and we interviewed everybody. His name is Joe Coletto. He will travel anywhere. He is a pleasure. We spent more than what is recommended. We are saving a zillion dollars on our bills. He is the company and he is superb. He was honest about what our needs were. He is educated and he educated us as to what our needs were. We felt that he was not just listening to us and saying okay. The price was fair. We like this company so much that we would actually take phone calls. We would absolutely use them again.

We have been happy with them. The solar panels were not functioning properly and so, we had to have almost all of the panels replaced. There was also some discrepancy as to why the panels weren't functioning. However, there is an improvement now. We had initially paid $40000 for the system. Their responsiveness was excellent. They try and provide excellent service. They are punctual, as they were here in a minute when we had a problem.

We liked this company. The worker that we talked to about the job we wanted them to do was very professional. All the work was done very efficiently. The price I was quoted at was the price it cost. They told me it would only take three days to do the work and that's exactly how long it took them. The clean up after the job was done was also very good. It wasn't our cheapest option but the quality of the work was definitely worth the money. It was a good company all around.
