We are extremely pleased with the fence Gary and his 2-man crew installed for us. We had obtained several bids. His was a bit more pricey than some, but we wanted a quality fence and we were confident he would deliver. We were not disappointed! Although we knew basically what we wanted, Gary made some excellent suggestions. We took him up on most of them and are very glad we did. He and his crew also worked well with and were very considerate of our neighbors, who were most appreciative. Gary and his crew are true craftsmen, take pride in their work, and the end result was, and still is, beautiful. Excellent value for the investment. We live in an area that often has wind gusts up to 50 mph, so we needed a solid fence. We recently experienced Santa Ana winds over 70 mph, and the fence they built stood strong. A neighbor's fence blew down in the same storm - and it had just been built a few days prior. They should have hired Ambrose Fence! We plan to hire Gary to replace the remaining two sides of our property in the future. I gave a B rating on "Responsiveness" only because it took Gary awhile to get back to us in the beginning, when we were getting a quote and trying to get questions answered. However, when we hired Ambrose Fence and they were working for us, a project which took 2 weeks, Gary gave us his full attention, checked in with us daily, if not more frequently, and answered each of our questions promptly and patiently. We HIGHLY recommend Ambrose Fence Co.!

Sent two messages trying to set up an appointment and received no reply.

Needed a new 25' section of fencing in backyard and a new gate. Gary and son removed the old fencing, installed sturdy metal posts and new redwood fencing promptly and according to plan, accommodating my concerns about water drainage on my sloped property. Excellent craftsmanship. The new gate install was tricky, fitting into a stucco archway, but handled perfectly. I'll certainly use Ambrose Fencing for any future fencing needs.

Gary Ambrose and his son did an amazing job installing redwood fencing. I had gotten 3 estimates and his estimate was the lowest and he was the nicest person. The service and the communication was great. They worked very hard and hauled away the old fencing and posts. He dealt with my neighbors and was always smiling and friendly. The finished fence looks awesome!!!! Thank you, Gary. I highly recommend him for your fencing project!!!

It was a flawless transaction. Since this is a two-man operation -- Gary and his son -- the service was very personal. Gary always called when he said he'd call and showed up when he said he'd show up. The price was reasonable, and the workmanship was immaculate. The work was at a rental house, and my tenant was out of town. She had left her keys so we could move her car from the driveway, but it turned out the battery was dead. With the driveway blocked, access to the back yard was limited. Since Gary had to remove the old fencing material and carry in the new materials, I figured he'd want to postpone until the tenant returned to town. Instead, he offered to work around the problem, never once complained, and never tried to increase the price for his trouble. With all the big commercial fencing companies in the marketplace today, this kind of personal service is rare. Gary deserves the highest recommendation possible.

My experience with Gary Ambrose and Ambrose Fence Company is another outstanding Angie's List experience.
After nearly 21 years in this house, I decided it was time to enclose the back yard. I was seeking privacy and a secure area for a dog. At the south side of the lot, no fence existed; many years before, on the north side, the neighbor had put up a lattice-work fence and a wire fence, both of which had seen better days.
From my initial telephone conversation with Gary until the completion of the job, everything went flawlessly. During our first meeting, Gary provided some excellent suggestions/ideas on how to improve the look and security of the fence--especially since the backyard is on a hillside. His bid arrived promptly. At that time, Gary was busy with other jobs, and since my need was not urgent, we were able to schedule a start-date suitable for both of us. Once the work was begun, it was performed professionally, neatly, and on schedule. At the conclusion of each day's work, Gary explained what had been done, what would be done the following day, and the time he and his workers would arrive to begin work. At the end of each day, the work site was left in excellent condition.
The result: a beautiful redwood fence as described in the estimate but with some fine finishing touches, all of which far exceeded my expectations.

Everything went very well. We now have very fustrated dogs that have lost their ability to escape. I would definitely recommend Gary and call him again.

We have a concrete-and-wrought iron fence separating our home from our neighbor's house, and she had backed the fence with an unattractive, heat-creating aluminum flashing. We hired Gary Ambrose to come replace the flashing with dog-eared redwood planking. From our first call, he was friendly and professional, asking good questions that showed he was paying attention. He came out to inspect the property less than 48 hours later and gave an estimate WAY less than we'd expected. He was able to schedule us quickly, even bending to our needs and bringing his 2-man crew with him to do the work on a Saturday. What great guys! On time, friendly, and not only did they do an AMAZING job, they also left me good advice about long-term care of the fence and some custom-cut boards in case I ever need to replace any. The estimate was right on the money and the work they did has dramatically increased the beauty and value of my home. Could NOT imagine being happier with service, price or the character of this business.

We had an appt at 4PM today, Gary has not shown up and I left a message at 4:20 trying to find out if he was on his way ..have not heard a thing. bad experience and will not being using him for any work. It is now 5:20 PM. Didn't show up for appt and no phone call, incredibly unprofessional.

I was happy with the service from beginning to end. I received bids from three fence companies, all of which had high marks on Angies' List and selected Ambrose because it was the least expensive of the three. Gary Ambrose was very responsive and professional and completed the job quickly and to my satisfaction.

Gary gave me an estimate based on a preliminary sketch I made. We then had him come out to actually look at the job once we knew what we wanted. It had changed a little from the sketch. He revised his quote. Within the week, he came out and did a great job on the fence. The invoice was a little lower than the original quote. Quick, easy, very professional. Will definitely call him if we have any other work to be done.

Excellent experience. I called Gary Ambrose, and he came out to see the property that day. I had an estimate from him a few hours later. It was a very good price, so we hired him, and he was able to start a day later. It took Gary and his co-worker two days to take down and haul away the crummy, makeshift fence that had been put up, move a bunch of large rocks that were surrounding the area, dig holes for the new fence posts, pour the concrete, and install the fence. Gary was so easy to work with, unfailing polite and good natured, and did a fantastic job. The fence is exceptionally sturdy, and it looks terrific. I would use Ambrose again in a heartbeat, and highly recommend them.

The experience from beginning to end was one of the most pleasurable contracted work experiences I have ever had. Gary is a great guy and really came through. He is a fence guy and knows fences. I had some off the wall ideas and he was able to make those ideas of mine a reality. I was there on site ever day and fortunate for that. There were details that required my attention, and Gary was on site, which is a huge plus in my book. He works with a small crew which also in my book is a plus - work was done at such a rate that I was able to keep up and stay ahead of the game with any issues that did arise. I would refer Gary Ambrose to anyone who wants a professionally installed fence and an enjoyable experience to boot.

I called Gary and left a message with a short description of project. He called me back and left me a message the same day. We played phone tag for a couple of days and then we hooked up and made an appointment to look at the job. Gary showed up on time, gave me an estimate and gave me an approximate start date. Started on time, finished on time and did a great job at exactly what he estimated despite running into a problem on the location planned for the post.

Gary Ambrose and his workers that comprise Ambrose Fence Co. are extremely skilled and easy to work with. These guys know what they are doing and Gary is clearly honest and forthright in his bidding and work. These guys are also exceptionally clean! After every day of work, the place was spotless and very tidy. Overall, Ambrose Fence Co. made sure they did all they could, and beyond, to ensure that I, the customer, was completely satisfied and had no questions or concerns along the way whatsoever. What can I say? I only wish we had more money and fence to build! These guys are great! Oh, and the LOVE barbeque.... : )
