AL THE DRAIN SPECIALIST

Showed up on time, very professional, cleaned up after, drains are back to normal, didn't try to upsale like other plumbers I've used in the past.

Called on a Saturday. Al said someone would be out within two hours. Someone was there in less than one hour. Professional, polite, clean, and efficient! Would definitely call again and would highly recommend.

This happened on a Sunday afternoon. I called Al based on a recommendation from a friend and because he was on Angie's List. He said he'd arrive in about 30 minutes and he arrived promptly within about 25 minutes. He proceeded to unclog the sewer line by accessing a clean-out just outside the front of the house and snaking it all the way to the street connection.
Al is a one-man operation. He answers his own phone, is professional, prompt, efficient, knowledgable, no-nonsense and charges a very reasonable rate, especially for Sundays.
I will use him again in a heartbeat and will definitely mention to my fellow homeowners.

One more time, we had a clogged toilet and roots in the drainpipes in our front yard. There are many trees, and snaking is done at least once a year. We always use Al for snaking and drain cleaning. Al is there the same day, professional, honest, and efficient. We've called him several times and will call him again.

After calling an appliance person and a plumber, we called Al, The Drain Specialist, who fixed the problem. What happened was water was leaking under the washing machine after the rinse cycle (when the water flows out of the machine). The appliance man said there was a clog in the pipe (probably from clothes fibers, he opined) and to call a plumber. The plumber came out and put a snake in the pipe; he said the snake wouldn't go through, that he didn't want to cause a leak, and he would have to replace the pipes for $3,300, because the pipes were probably bad. There were cloth fibers on the snake as he pulled out the snake. After the plumber left, we called Al, The Drain Specialist, about 6 p.m.; we scheduled for the next morning at the regular flat rate of $55, not being an emergency. (He charges more after hours and on weekends and holidays; his rates are listed on his web site.) Al said they would come between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m., and they timely arrived. (Usually it's one man who arrives, but this time it was two, maybe for training.) Within minutes their snake went about 50 feet into the pipe, churning and grinding the clog in the pipe. They tested the washing machine, and all the water properly flowed out from the washing machine into the pipe, with no water backing up in the pipe and no leaking onto the laundry room floor. The charge was $55 (not $3,300), for a savings of $3,245. We have used them over the years; they are honest and their work lasts. We used to call a plumber to unclog a kitchen sink pipe, but after having to call him every few months for the same problem, we called Al, who solved the problem. This latest episode with the washing machine has reminded us that when there is a clogged drain to call Al, The Drain Specialist.

We had various flooding problems in our kitchen and bathroom. Another company overcharged us in addition to misdiagnosing the problem, so I was not inclined to take them up on their warranty. I'd seen them enough! I called Al on the Saturday after Christmas. He answered promptly, indicating that he was out of town, but that his son, Kevin, was available. Kevin arrived when he said he would, and snaked out the roots which were clogging our drains, solving the problem. Kevin did so quiet a job that we forgot that work was being done. He also did not leave a trace of the work, cleaning thoroughly. Note: the $125.00 was a weekend rate. I do not know what the weekday rate is. This service is limited to drain cleaning; I wish Al were an all-purpose plumber, as I would use him and Kevin for all our plumbing needs.
