Although the work was ultimately completed satisfactorily as a result of our inspections, demands, and persistence, the company owner and his workers were generally unprofessional.
The workers felt entitled to party despite our presence at the property throughout the entire project. Complaints to the contractor about the workers' constantly blaring music were handled with dismissive hostility instead of apology. The owner/contractor insisted that we were the only customers ever to complain about his workers. Unfortunately, we were unaware of existing reviews of this contractor under the name "Magic Windows" before we hired him. However, the mediocre reviews prove that we were NOT the first and only clients to have major problems with the company's work and lack of professionalism.
The most unpleasant and unacceptable experiences occurred with the hardwood floor refinishing. The workers did not put up
protective plastic to isolate the sanding area, and, consequently, the sanding dust was blown onto every object and surface in the six adjoining rooms. The contractor refused to clean up the resulting mess because the project hadn't been completed. Despite repeated notice to the contractor that a large display case was not to be moved during the floor refinishing, the workers moved the unit and destroyed two treasured collectibles. Instead of admitting the damage, the workers hid the broken items and lied that nothing had been on the shelf. We had to threaten to file a police theft report before the workers acknowledged their actions. The contractor was verbally abusive about our complaints regarding this completely unacceptable incident.
The contractor provided very little supervision and inspection of work performed. Our requests for correction of unsatisfactory work, such as the plumbers breaking two sinks while installing faucets, were treated as personal attacks by the contractor.
If you value your furniture, possessions, and peace of mind, do NOT hire this company.
